Monitor Not Working!

The on light is still working and turning the monitor off and on again will display the image for a second and then go blank again.
I have tried the monitor on a different computer and the same thing occurs.
Does anybody know what the problem is and how it can be fixed?
The only thing i can think of is that I was changing the resolution setting earlier today, but set them back to their original settings. Perhaps this could have been the source of the problem
Any help will be much appreciated
many thanks,

It is a Dell E172FPb and I have had it quite a while (around 5 years) so I imagine that it is just worn out or something
I have also tried the cables with another monitor so it must be the monitor itself
Thanks,

I have the same problem with my Ovation flat screen. Changing the resolution setting didn't help. We have yet to repair it.

Well, not so long ago I had the same problem but with a CRT monitor which served me 13 years. But when I was changing my CRT for an LCD they told me its life is usually about 5 years, so... Hopefully, my monitor will last longer.

My Sony LCD is about 7 years old and the dell sitting next to it is probably 9.
Need a Windows ISO image?
