Purchased an HP 6500 wireless printer and it sounded as if a freight train was coming through the house. Returned
it to HP and they sent me a remanufactured HP 6500 wireless printer that also makes so much noise that it is unusable at best. Is this the norm with this printer. PCWorld mag for August 2010 has it listed as #2 best Top 10 Inkjet Multifunction Printers. Purchased it at Staples and received No help there even with a purchased warranty.

I am not familiar with an HP 6500 printer. Is this an OfficeJet, DeskJet or PhotoSmart line?

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, but had a few of my own fires to put out.

When you say sounds like a freight train - are you referring to all the paper handling noise when it prints or is there noise when it is idle?

I have the OfficeJet 8500 and is is sitting quietly right now because I am not printing anything. But when I send a print job to it, it clicks, clunks, and whirs as it is feeding the paper and then you can hear the printhead moving back and forth.

The quietest printer I have is the HP Laserjet P2015 except for the slight whistle at the very end. I think that is actually a signal that the page has printed.

This HP printer is really useful for both home and office. It is nice revolution in printer media. It can perform multiple functions and can also provide high quality print colors at affordable cost.
