I have an iMac (10.6.4) and a Windows 7 PC. I need the Windows 7 PC to be the synergy server. I used to have another Windows 7 PC hooked up and it worked without an issue. I've been working on getting the iMac to work for about an hour and a half now.

I'm able to see the computers on the network and access files on both from the opposing computer on the network (with a password...both computers use password-locked), but the error that comes up is "Warning: failed to connect to server: address not found for: windowspcnamehere"

This may be short on info but I'm tired and kind of sick of trying to figure this out. If anyone needs any more information that I haven't given, ask and I will inform you. I'm very tech savvy so I should be able to hit up whatever it is you ask without a problem. Beyond that, thanks for any responses and help!

When you say "Synergy", is this what you are talking about?

http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/

Or are you talking about something else?

Yes, that is...but I figured it out. I never recieved a response so I never bothered to say how I fixed it. The Mac version requires an IP Address, not a host name.

Just registered for this forum, to say thank you for taking the time to reply with your (simple, yet important) solution!

It solved my problem, entering the Server IP ADDRESS on my Mac Synergy Client, and not the SCREEN NAME, which I do on my Windows computers (even that the Windows Client also says to enter 'Server IP').

Having had this problem for a week, I even made a donation to the project, realizing how much I depend on this program!

Anyway, I want to add to your solution, that this fix only worked for me, when running in the 'Process mode' "Desktop (legacy)". I'm using the latest nightly build (well, as of October 26th - a new one has arrived as of October 30th).

The reason for using the nightly, and not the stable release, was that Synergy just stopped working a week ago. I do not recall having upgraded Synergy on neither my Mac, nor my Windows machine running as Server.

And I could SWEAR, that on my Mac, I previously used to input the 'Screen name'. That's why I never bothered to actually read the text for the input field - it clearly states 'Server IP'.

Oh well.., PC's and sometimes Macs have their own mysterious ways. Life might even be boring without them.. not!

Once again, thank you!
