Hi all, new here and need some advice. Just got a laptop for a gift and I want to know if it is a good one or if I should return it and get something different? I got:HP Pavilion dv2116wm Entertainment Notebook PCDoes anyone know if this is a decent laptop? I would use it for personal use and small home business. I got this as a gift and was told I could return it if I wanted something different. Don't get me wrong, I am very grateful to get one but I just want to make sure of what I have. lol....I want to be sure it is a decent one but yet if I don't need what all this has then I can probably return and get a more basic one if this one has too many whistles. I would appreciate any help any of you can offer as I know nothing about laptops. I need to find out what to do so I can return this within the next day or two if necessary. Please email me with any help. Thanks in advance. Tam

To matchbox2022, you said that the Nvidia 7600 performs at ATI 200M performance levels and its power consumption is too low. I would like to know where you got that information from. And it seems that for every topic I posted, you added a reply after I did. I do not believe it is just a coincidence though.

I presume this is a dv2000 series notebook. This notebook as it name suggest is geared towards multimedia users. If I remember correctly, it uses a core 2 duo processor and Nvidia 7600 Go graphic card. A reasonably powerful system even for gamers. It also has Quickplay capability so you do not need to start Windows to watch a DVD.If I were you, I will keep it. It is still your choice anyway.

To cut the crap reviews sometimes give...Pros:Clear and vibrant colors on widescreen LCD Lightweight and small; Can fit in most backpacks 1.3 MP Webcam 2 headphone jacks Very quiet Good wireless connectivity Good build quality QuickPlay software to play DVD/CD/music without booting WinXPCons:Sub-par battery life Cheap mouse buttons Glossy touchpad <----PFF NOT BAD.. Difficult to use QuickPlay buttons Prone to fingerprints <----Arent we all?Weak graphics processor Cheap built-in speakersThe last 2 cons I have to say are whats gonna set you back. if you plan to games older than 2005 early 2006. You will be able to play games now,,,,just not very well. (not good graphics).Otherwise, its not bad at all.Oh and btw yeo, if the guy says its a dv2116? doesnt it make sense that its a 2000 series notebook from hp...And NO the nVidia 7600 is good in a pc, not good for lappys, even if its dedicated...power consumption is too low and the benchmarks even show it, its like an ATI 200M.
