hi, i ersently purchesed a computer and after long hours of playing bf2142 the game freezes up, it flashes a blue screen very quickly, then it reboots. i called tech support and they said that it was a problem with the ram, i offerd that maybe overheating might be the problem but they said that it was defently the ram. but if its a problem with 1 stick, it should still work with 512mb, if its a problem with both then it shouldnt work right? so what do you think, is it a problem with ram or overheating cpu.

512 mb of ram is not enough to play bf2142.......check out the system requirements.System Requirements for Battlefield 2142 are as follows:Windows XP with latest service pack installed 1.7 GHz Intel Celeron D/Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon XP/Sempron Processor 2.2 GB free hard drive space (3 GB hard drive space recommended)1 512 MB RAM (1 GB recommended) DirectX 9.0c compatible video card (128Mb DirectX compliant video card with Pixel shader 2.0 and above.)2 DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card Broadband connection (cable, DSL, or faster) A DVD-ROM Drive3 Additional hard drive space will be needed for the download if purchased via EA Link. Must be an AGP or PCI Express card or better. Standard PCI cards are not compatible. DVD-ROM Drive is not required if game purchased from EA Link. After hours of continuously stressing your computer, I believe that you are overheating. I suggest trying a water cooling kit, or adding a fan to the side of the case to disperse heat.Keep in mind that tech support employees read from a script, and usually do not know what is wrong with your computer. The script gives them common solutions to problems, but is not always correct to your situation.

if overheating is the issue...read on.you may need to increase your voltage and fan speed in BIOS health status (AKA H/W Monitor) if your motherboard is overheating. set BIOS core temperature to shut down your comp so no further damage occurs once the temperature reads, say 75c and above. you may be in jeopardy as we speak.p.s. - keep your tower away from heating vents, baseboard elements, etc. in your home. also, keep your towers vents and fans clean from dust. note that dust build-up on your fan slows the RPM.good luck and happy cooling!
