Well at least Flas looks good up in the corner. The bar with coastie65 on it is down into the sign in / sign out, help part so is out of place. Scripting? Oh yeah, in both Vista and Windows 7.

My page looks exactly the same as Flashhorn's even after clearing the cache. I've tried FF 3.6, Chrome 3.0, Opera 10.6, and IE 8.0. It looks like the Search bar and User info sections need some CSS. The Notifications pane is gone still. In addition, the Favorites icon is the one default for IPB.

Any chance we can get you to enable Fast Reply for posts? It would probably help newbies who click the Reply button on a post and get confused with all the BBCode.

Yeah, there are still a few minor issues to work on.

I've enabled Fast Reply now for Answer Line, OS's and Hardware Help forums. We'll see how everyone likes it and enable it on the rest if you all want it.

Thanks,
Bill

I think you're doing a great job, Bill! I know how updates on forum software can often be troublesome. I appreciate you keeping us updated as you go along too. Thanks for enabling Fast Reply! I hope it becomes helpful for others too and ends up being displayed universally.

Yes, the notifications windows are still missing, this should be true in all browsers. Hopefully I'll have a chance to get that fixed today.
Bill

Thanks for your fast reply. But, there's no rush I guess. I was just posting because you asked us to tell you what was still missing.

After all, it's the Week-End and you had a pretty hectic week.

I like the addition of the Fast Reply. I just used it and it works great. Will be using it where I can.

Thanks to AgentF for suggesting it.

I see the Recent Added Topics and Watched Content pane is fully functional again, and the favorites icon has been replaced. Keep it up, Bill! I'm glad you support the Fast Reply, Flashhorn. =)

You should be seeing the notifications windows back now. I think the only problems left now are the css issues with your profile area and the search box.

Thanks again,

Bill

Hi flashorn,

not sure why but my w7 premium, IE8 displays perfectly and is fully functional.

Rommel

I don't see how the difference in operating system would affect how a web browser renders a web page. To further test your theory, I just opened the PCworld forums page on a Windows 7 Premium 64-bit machine and got the same result as I did on my Windows XP 32-bit machine when trying Firefox, and both 32-bit/64-bit Internet Explorer. You didn't mention whether you tried other browsers, Rommel. Could you provide a screenshot for all of us to base our responses on?

Hi AgentF,

I am not sure what is missing in the picture Flashorn provided.

Though it may not matter I'll say it anyway, the two screenshots are the same for W7 premium 64 BIT IE8
XP home 32 bit IE8'
W7 premium, 32 bit, IE8.

No other setup or browser was tried.
I do have firefox only in w7 64 bit setup. I will try it and will edit in the results.

Dropdown.

Before dropdown.

Every link visible is working fine. Not just the profile stuff but the links below and to the left.

Is there something I am missing?

Rommel

EDIT: firefox is fine. Unsure of the version but it was downloaded this week.

EDIT2: I now see recent topics added. Forgot about that.

FLASHORN.

They changed the way it works in this version so it's more difficult for me to customize it now. The PCWorld bot posts used to not show up there, I need to find a way to make that happen again, then you'll probably find that 5 are enough.

The Watched Content pane is not functional. It should display a topic I've marked to watch when a new reply is made, but it doesn't. For example, I have this topic marked to watch. I hadn't read Snorg's post yet, but the Watched Content pane didn't inform me of a new reply. When I open up the User Control Panel's Your Notifications section, it says I have no saved notifications, yet atop the thread I have the option to stop watching the topic.

Line 63 of ipb_common.css
.bbc_member, .bbc_url {color:inherit;}

This makes unvisited URLs within a post have the same text color as the regular post text. Omitting that line will give unvisited URLs within posts the old blue color and help URLs to be more noticeable.

Edit: It seems the visited URLs would have the same display had it not been for line 14 of pcwskin.css which overrides ipb_common.css' settings for that element.

Hey Bill !!

I just noticed that when I post a URL from YouTube, the Video embeds directly in the post
without any other formatting. That's just Great. I never had the time to learn how to do it
and now, I Don't (although, I should).

Thanks for this upgrade.
