Hey Everyone ~~ Jynx Here! I recently posted my horrible experience with CyberPowerPC in another thread. Now I would like to post my positive experience with NewEgg. I had written up an official article and posted it on my blog because I was so impressed with their service.

If you'd like the short version, BUY FROM THEM! Their customer service is superior to that of any retailer I've dealt with. If you'd like the juicy details, including pictures and stats, then check out this monster system I built, with the help of a very special friend. She's a beauty and runs like a charm. Will definitely be using NewEgg for any future purchases!

Thank for reading,

I completely agree. I buy all my computer components from them. Their service, price, and delivery is top notch.

Hi Jinx, I remember the Cyberpower experience. Looks like you built yourself a winner. Ypu didn't say which processor, but am assuming Core i7 860. I am a bit surprised you are playing Diablo II. I have the Diablo Battle Chest and played through Diablo, but Diablo II was a no go. This was on my eMachines. I never could get it to work as I kept gettting a message about missing DLL files or something to that effect. I have this Gateway dual booting Vista and Windows 7, both Home Premium. I just ordered a 5770 Video card from NewEgg ( got a free game thrown in as well and FREE shipping ). This is to replace the Radeon HD4850 1GB DDR3 Card that came in here. May start looking for a Core i7 960 next.

UPDATE: I just went back to the other thread and you did get the Core i7 860. You should be proud of the build as it is a good one and should do well in hard core gaming. One thing you may want to do and that is go and get Hardware Monitor by CPUID. It is a good for checking the temps. Somebody told about it and I nistalled the thing. Good thing too as I found out that my Northbridge was way hot. I was heading for a toasted Motherboard.

Yeah i love NewEgg too. Wish they had a local site for every country. Then it would be easier for shipping as well as getting a near perfect price quote(no need of currency conversion!)

Yes! NewEgg is ideal. Especially when compared to purchasing stuff at Best Buy which is extremely high.
If ya cannot find what you need at NewEgg, try TigerDirect.
I bought my LCD monitor at TigerDirect because of NewEgg policy on Bad Pixels.
Well ya can also try Frys, they are somewheres in the western U.S. states.
Too Bad CompUSA went out of business and Circuit City . Now BestBuy has no more competition and people are being cheated of
hard earned money. Have you noticed that BestBuy making you buy items online so you cannot return product to store and also restocking fees.
I just wished the Manufacturers would give all of us a break, meaning produce more stuff and allow it be be sold in USA.
I've noticed NewEgg stock and listing of Products are dwindling. Also NewEgg not giving us good bargains like they have in the past.

Oh! Rebates are and always been a hassle, just terrible. How about giving Instant Rebates and no more Mail In rebates.
NewEgg still needs to improve how items are shipped. Hear it all the time, expect a 25% chance when you recieve your stuff to be damaged.

I really enjoy NewEgg being a reasonable place to shop online. But they can improve everything they do.

I have a Preferred Account at NewEgg, unfortunately don't get treated as one.

last, if not able to find what you are looking for ... hit up eBay.

Wow, my experience with Newegg is nothing like yours. Most months I place 3 or 4 orders from Newegg, and I've never had any trouble with shipping or damaged items. I've only had one minor issue caused by Newegg where they shipped me a processor that had already been sold and RMA'd back to them. I explained the situation, they sent me a prepaid label and I shipped it back to them and they immediately shipped me a replacement. They also sent me a Newegg baseball cap for my trouble. The 'Preferred Account' is a fancy name for a store credit card. It really doesn't mean that you will get special treatment, only that you can buy more than you can afford. I totally agree that rebates are a pain and my only real complaint with Newegg is that they include mail-in rebates in an item's displayed price. I hate that, because I don't factor in mail-in rebates when deciding whether or not to buy an item. It's just a little bonus if it ever comes back. I haven't seen a decrease in the number of items Newegg carries, at least not in the PC component area which is the only place I shop. And I get/have gotten some screamin' deals from them, so I don't see a decrease in that, either. In my experience, Newegg's customer service could not realistically be any better. They are always very polite, speak English fluently, and go way above and beyond what they need to do to make their customers happy. That's why they are as big as they are. I do shop at TigerDirect too, but not nearly as often because their prices are generally higher. The plus with them is that being just a few miles from their warehouse, most items for me are overnight delivery. Before they closed down, ClubIT was my second favorite online parts store. Best buy has always been expensive, just like Staples. In my local Staples, you can still walk in and spend $99.99 for a GeForce 8400GS. I'll stick to Newegg...

I am in the same boat...never had a bad experience with NewEgg.

In fact, there was even one occasion where they refunded me the amount of a rebate when the manufacturer's rebate processing folks hosed me on the rebate.

I have never had anything come to me damaged. I have yet to have to RMA anything with them.

Newegg is amazing. I lived on the Big Island for a few years and even with shipping charges (you can't get free shipping in Hawaii) they were less expensive than buying parts at the local computer store. I've had to RMA a few times, it's the nature of the stuff we work with, and their customer service has always been excellent. They've even waived restocking fees and paid shipping in some instances, like the latest when I got two DOA Velociraptors in a row. I've never had a problem with rebates but even if I did I wouldn't blame Newegg, that's the fault of the manufacturer and the rebate company they work with.
The only time I buy at the local computer store these days is when I need a two-bit cable or fan and I want it NOW.

I too don't like the local stores. They just praise & love to sell only those products that they have got. But things are improving a bit. Now they ship in customer specified goods, but charge u extra. It costs anywhere between $10-20, plus a little more for their pocket!

In my case, it is not because I do not like the local stores...it is more of a matter of not really having anything decent locally. Sorry, but Staples does not count as a "computer store" and it is about the best option that I have locally. I don't even really consider Best Buy a "computer store", not to mention that the closest is about an hour from me.

About the only computer stuff that I buy locally is blank optical discs and printer cartridges. I have bought ethernet cables on occasion or a flash memory (SD) card. But, that is about it.

In my case, there really aren't options available besides a Walmart and Meijer 20 minutes away. The few hobby stores within the same radius have rather limited supplies. I can get newer technologies cheaper online with a huge selection and skip a sales pitch. Newegg always ships my stuff quickly and I've never had a DOA situation. Hearing from folks who have, the return process is painless. My recent wired mouse purchase was made offline, so Walmart scored $10 from me.

I've never shopped TigerDirect. The items I've searched for were always more expensive and the site navigation could use some work last I checked. Newegg makes it easy to narrow searches down.

Amazon has good selections of prebuilt computers, but their search feature doesn't work. Umm... amazon, why the heck is a 15.6" laptop appearing when I said 10-13"? Also, if I say max price $500 and Condition New, I don't want a laptop that costs $500 used and $600 new. Do they think I'm more likely to buy if they do that? Because I'm not... and that's the main reason I gave up on looking on amazon at computers.

I've bought things at tigerdirect occosionally, and it's a decent site, but I agree on the navigation issues.

I too prefer the local stores for blank DVD's & micro-SD! Other than that, i depend on them for DVD burner, PSU, hard discs, speakers & monitors. They have a decent stock & quality of these items. Everything else is online for me.

May be tiger direct. Sometimes the prices are $5-$10 less due to rebates.

Tigerdirect and Newegg are both great. Newegg has sites for Canada, US, and even China, though their China site isn't all that good. Tigerdirect is also an amazing site, I just ordered a GPS recently, and it took them 1 day to ship it!! Plus, I live in Canada, so they have to ship from their US warehouse to their Canadian warehouse to me, and they did that all in one day!

There are tons of amazing retailers out there now. I think that most of them are safe, and it's really just about finding the cheapest price sometimes. Amazon, Newegg, Tigerdirect, are all excellent retailers and have competitive prices.

Sears.com is starting to attract some of ebay's defected sellers, and some good deals can be found there as well.

HP elitebook core i5 for $599.99

AMD phenom 9850 Quad for 61.99

Just a few things I have seen lately. I agree new egg is king, but for price comparison it might be good to check out sears

I was just there today. You can still get that (PCI, NOT PCI-E), but it's $60 now. And that's the only gpu they sell.

Did you know you can buy things like pet bedding at newegg? I did a google product search on it and they showed up. However, I'll stick to the local pet store (not a big chain at all, they have 2 stores in the area), since it costs a ton for shipping otherwise.

Yep I've been there. When I bought some $60 corsair ram, $20 rebate, they said it would take 8-10 weeks. Right on - it took 9. But it came.

Dang... there's a Frys 20 minutes away from me, and their selection is pretty good. Best Buy is an "overpriced crappy computer store". Sure, my parents have bought Refridgerators and av equipment there, but I don't buy tech stuff there. It's overpriced and they have little. Where do you live anyway?

When I buy blank CDs and DVDs, I usually wait for a Frys sale (I got 100 DVD-Rs when they had them for $13, Maxell).
