YMax' magicJack does offer free conference calling facilities. Albeit not as elegant as three way calling, the feature requires all parties to call a toll free number and enter a magicJack owner's conference room number (which must be setup by the owner before use). I find this a viable alternative and quite suitable for my purposes - especially at $20 a year.

I have called on Ooma Telo and is ok .. The cost of the Telo is around $250 bucks, the Nettalk Duo is $70 bucks including 1 years service. So Ooma is $180 more plus your monthly phone bill from Ooma.Just the $180 you save pays for 6 YEARS more phone service with Nettalk.Call quality is about the same,MagicJack is not even close. As for Vonage each month you could have paid for a years service with Nettalk!!! I have tried(2) MagicJacks for 1.5 years,Vonage(1 year),Skype and many other VoIP's and Nettalk is the real deal. They offer a 30 day money back offer too!!!

No, Vonage are the biggest thieves out there. The service is fair but when you don't renew, they rescind all the discounts
that they gave you as incentives when you first try their service. Within seconds after you cancel online, they deduct all
of the cash from your card! I was shocked since this was never mentioned after the first year! So if you intend to cancel,
change your debit or credit card number to deprive these bandits of their original discounts. Very upsetting. Forget Vonage.

I paid $70 + $10 shipping, and Nettalk has been working awesome for me so far. The service is free for a year, and $30 a year after that. Compared to MagicJack's $45 for equipment plus one year, and $20 per year thereafter, Nettalk will save you the difference in money easily coz you can leave your computer off and hook it straight to your router.

NetTalk is the best. Very friendly customer service and completley reasonable pricing. It really is exactly the same thing as Vonage, just much cheaper (and you can't port your phone number... yet!). Tons of area codes available and they're always adding new areas. In case anyone had the same idea I did, it WILL work with a wireless gaming adapter. Call quality is excellent!

I've been using magicjack for a long time now and am thoroughly happy with it. The calls are crystal clear, and after paying the initial $60 (I think that's what I paid) I won't have to pay anything for 5 full years! Contrary to previous reporting, with magicjack I always have my messages sent to my email...very easy to retrieve. The only advantage that I see with this product is that it still works when the computer is down. For me, that's overnight when I don't really want calls anyway. Having to pay even $30 per year is not as good as paying $0 in my book!!

Which of these can I use with my fax machine? I've tried Ooma and it was a no-go.

Better yet, can people you know call you for free nationally and internationally like on Vonage with an access number like my girlfriend from the UK who calls me constantly for free unless she stays on the phone for more than an hour because of her local phone plan.

I've had 2 majic jack lines during the last 3 years. They never really worked for us (I gave the other one to my friend in another country). They never worked. On some occasions that they did, there were plenty of static interference, audio quality was very poor, and forwarding to it's voice mail hardly ever worked. (Search through the archives of PCMagazine.com for their retraction of their Best-Buy recommendation when Majicjack was first introduced). Good luck. - coblink

You have to call another Nettalk or majicjack in another country and you'll enjoy free international calling. Otherwise, the new Google Voice international calls are less expensive than AT&T or any of the prepaid international calling cards. Third option is obviously, SKYPE. :)

We tried Magic Jack but the quality wasn't very good and it dropped several calls after a few minutes even using a fairly fast PC w/4 GB. It seemed to work a little better on a laptop but we're not going to keep that running just for the MJ. It seemed very sensitive to the overhead on the PC. We then tried the smartphone version of Nettalk and the reception on our end was good but was totally garbled on the other end. We bought the Nettalk Duo but weren't holding out much hope due to the experience with the smartphone app. If this didn’t work we were going to try the Ooma. We’ve only had NT for a few days but so far have been very impressed with the quality and features. The quality is almost exactly the same as with the Vonage service we had been using. Vonage worked great but we were sick of paying $33/month when there were cheaper alternatives. We’ve made many calls so far w/o any problems. Nettalk is vastly superior to Magic Jack since it connects to the router and doesn’t require the computer to be running. It also has 3-way calling which works great which MJ didn’t have. Nettalk is slightly more expensive than MJ but even if MJ worked properly NT is vastly superior since it doesn’t depend on the computer. If there are no problems in the next few weeks it will permanently replace Vonage and we’ll be recommending it to many friends and family. It’s a little surprising they haven’t advertised when it’s clearly superior to the Magic Jack assuming it stays stable. The extra cost is totally irrelevant.

Why would anyone want to pay Vonage a recurring monthly fee? How can that be called the "king" of service? Vonage is ripping people off so badly. Think of the cash they are raking in off of all those people who must love sending them money each and every month! My duo gives me the exact same service for a YEARLY fee of only 30.00 bucks. Hmmm, which is the better deal?

Yes you can make international calls with both MagicJack and netTALK Duo.Both have FREE calling from MJ to MJ or from netTalk to netTALK.Also both have a prepaid piggy bank for calls to anywhere other than the U.S.A. and CANADA.Both companys could do a better job at showing the rates for each country etc.I have made calls to several countries on both (France,Italy, and the U.K.) I will say netTALK gives better accounting of funds after your call is over.MJ adds money to piggy bank via VISA,MC,DISC,and AmEx the last time i used.netTALK adds via PAYPAL or VISA,MC,DISC,and AmEx in $1,$5,$10 and $20 increments.

I have OOMA and have been quite happy with it but I do have the "no monthly cost" version that costs about $220 for equipment. The net talk is costwise probably a better deal. Call quality on OOMA is very good... I. Don't know how it compares to net talk... The review suggests well if net talk is directly into a router...
