Recently I cannot print either business cards or return labels...When I go to print, even tho I have listed the Avery number of the label, it will not start at the beginning of the perforated labels. I can put a sheet of regular copy paper in and it drops the half inch and starts where it should, but as soon as I put the Avery paper in, it starts right at the top and all the labels are in the wrong place. I have tried to go into properties but find no place to reset the printer...I uninstalled the printer and reinstalled it and that didn't help, Went to Avery on line and downloaded ther label software and did the calibration they have and it still will not print in the proper place....Anyone have any suggestions, short of buying a new printer. It works wonderful on any other project and I like it becasue I can buy ink cartridges in the 19ml and 14 ml...so many of the new printers chave such small quanties of ink in their cartridgesthis is my first time here and hope I am in right place for answersThanks for any infoChar

this printer takes 28 and 27 cartridges but it also takes 57 and 58 cartridges and they have more ink...the color cartridge is 17ml and the black is 19 ml......thats the one feature I hate to get rid of by buying a new printer as the new ones have such small ink supplies...Ifyou look on the door you pull down to change cartridges you will see those cartridges listed on the inside of the door.....Hope that helps you

Hi,I was amazed at the difference in price for the 56 & 57 ink. What A deal. I also chatted with HP on the business card problem. IWhile was talking chatting with him I came across a printout of my business cards that I had printed on plain paper and I noticed they printed out okay, all ligned up right. So he didn't have a good answer except to try printing on the card stock but don't tell the printer that, but I am thinking ( haven't tryed it yet) that the printer doesn't print on that Avery card stock because it may be to thick, mine started out okay butit kept moving down the card by the last line. I t has been awhile since I printed them, it seems like I had to set it up on the screen so the bottom text was at the bottom of the card but will have to go back and try it. Something to try anyway. Thanks again,Theresa

I always print my first sheet on copy paper so I can make adjustments to the alignment of the text and that it prints just where it should.I always lay the copy paper under the perforated paper and put it up to the window so I can see where the print falls so if it too high I drop it down abit on the computer and etc...but then when I put in the avery paper, it starts printing right at the top instead of dropping down that 1/2 inch or so to where the first card should start and I have tried everything I can think of to stop it from doing that. Avery business card stock is thin, not too much heavier than copy paper ...I can print on regular card stock and have no problem and that's alot heavier than business card stock so I am beginning to think its a glitch in this printer...my thought is to get a Photosmart printer that prints on photo paper, which is normally thicker and hopefully it is set up for a heavier paper and will have no trouble with the bus. card stockhate to go to a new printer , as the inks are much less in the cartridges....but what are we to do....they have to make money on us somewhere

Go to the print preferences and make sure the paper "type" is NOT set to automatic. In automatic, the printer grabs the next sheet, scans it for a moment and then makes a determination of what type of paper it thinks it has. Dont let the printer do any thinking. Not good. Change the paper type to plain paper, normal speed/quality and then hit print. Let me know if it makes a difference.

HEY RONNUGENTTHANKS FOR THE INPUT, THERESA AND I HAVE BEN TRYING TO FIGURE THIS OUT. . SORRY TO SAY YOUR SUGGESTION DIDN'T WORK EITHER, I CHECKED AND IT WAS ALREADY SET ON PLAIN PAPER BUT I THOUGHT YOU MAY HAVE HAD A THOUGHT AND I CHANGED THE PAPER TO CARD STOCK, AND PRINTED ONLY THE 2 TOP CARDS AND THEY PRINTED RIGHT... IT DROPPED DOWN THE 1/2 INCH BEFORE IT STARTED TO PRINT AND I THOUGHT WHOOPPEE!!!...... THEN WHEN I TRIED TO PRINT THE REST OF THER PAGE IT STARTED PRINTING INTO THE BOTTOM OF THE TOP CARDS...THIS PRINTER IS GREAT IN EVERY OTHER ASPECT OTHER THAN IT WON'T PRINT PERFORATED PAPERS...ANY OTHER THOUGHTS WOULD BE APPRECIATEDCHAR

I too have an HP1315 and have had it for about a year and a half. Mine not only has a problem with the heavier paper typey but with glossy photo paper as well. When I first got it took every type of paper without hesitation. I think that maybe as these printers get older the paper rollers get worn an don't grab as well as when they were new, therefore making it harder for them to pull the heavier paper through the paper path. It is probably because HP's do no have direct paper feed like Canon, Epson & Lexmark. You can also save a great deal of money by having your cartridges refilled instead of buying new ones. I have taken mine to Island Ink-jet, to get them refilled, ever since I have had the printer and they work great. One thing I found out by doing this is that the 27/28 hold as much ink as the 56/57. When they are refilled they both hold exactly the same amount of ink which make the 27/28 a beeter deal

DBS1Thanks for the input, the only paper I have that gives me the problem is the perforated ones....I print on heavy card stock wth no problem and all other photo papers too....its just the perforated ones....I have had this printer 2 years'I have always been afraid of ink filling, but maybe it has improved and its nice to know the capacities are larger on the filledchar

Char Refilling works great if you go to the right place. Island Ink-Jet does a great job and guarantees their work. They fill your cartridge while you wait. They also have knowledgable people to discuss your printer problems with. THese guys are all over the place. Usually in malls. Iwouldn't go back to buying new again unless I had to. As an example here in canada at staples the 57 is CDN$45. It costs only CDN$19 to have it filled. I usually get about 5 - 6 refills before I have to buy a new one. That's a huge saving of about $150 over buying new each time.Sometimes cleaning you feed rollers with a lint free cloth sprayed with windex halps to bring them back to life. The easiest way to get to the rollers is to take the door, where a duplexer would go, off the back and you have easy access to the rollers.

DBS1Yes , I've cleaned rollers too, think is just a glitch in this particular model.......We don't have that particular place to refill cartridges but Walgreens (drug store in US) is advertising filling while you wait, not sure of the price but am going to check it out..... Also Office Max is selling their own refilled cartridges at quite a reduction in price.... Am going to do a little more checking on inks and new printers with the thought that if the ink cartridges they take don't have alot of ink in them, (they are filling the ink cartridges with less and less ink on the new models) that may be an option. I live in an Rv Park in Az and do alot of their computer work for them such as calendars, game schedules, name tags, game schedules so I do lots of printing, also I do work for other people but since this all voluntary the printer is my responsibility but i do reimbursed for ink and paper. Thanks again for your input, this is the way to learn about these things is through those who have found solutions to these problemschar
