Hi all,
I recently purchased a Panasonic TV and also the Panasonic DVD home Theater Sound System SC-PT70.
I am struggling to get the DVD player to work. It is acting very strange indeed.
I can get the soround sound speakers working (although can not do a test, or ajust speakers individually)
However here is my problem.....
...I have connected my DVD player to the tv via a HDMI cable (have also tried with a normal SCART) and when I press "Source" on my tv romote to HDMI2 I get a blue DVD screen. So there is clearly a connection made. However when I put in a DVD nothing whatsoever happens, the disc does not even spin.
...Also I can not access the "Set Up Menu" When I turned it on for the first time, according the manual it was meant to automatically go to the "Easy Set up" menu, but on mine it just went straight to this Blue Screen with the letters DVD on it, and that is where it has stayed.
I believe you may have to access the Easy Set Up menu first in order to put HDMI as prefered visial output, and I know the "Set-Up" botton on the remote is working, as although it doesn't provide me with an on screen menu, when you hold it in for a few seconds the word "Error" appears on the front display of the DVD player.
Now here is the weird part....
...When my DVD is on stand by, and I press the power botton either on the remote or on the actual DVD player, it comes on, but you can not do anything, you can not even open the DVD door. You can not turn on the soround sound, you can not listen to the radio, and of course you can not view the set up menu.
In order to do anything I have to turn it off, and then turn it on again but instead of using the power button I need to press the Open/Close button on the system, and that allows me to then listen to the radio, decide how I want to listen to the soround sound, but it still doesn't allow me to watch DVDs or have access to the Set Up menu.
So after all that, do you think my system is goosed? or is there a simple solution that I just can't find?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Sounds to me as if the SC-PT70 is defective. Since you just bought it, you can return it for a replacement.
