I noticed that on a recent survey I was given on your site one of the questions was "17: *How likely are you to purchase, subscribe, or continue to subscribe to the magazine version of this site?". Well actually, I don't subscribe to the magazine, I just come to the site and the forums often. Except that doesn't seem to be an option. Cost issues and saving paper are the main reasons I don't subscribe to the magazine. Why do they seem to expect people to subscribe? :S

Some people do like the feel of hard copy in their hands. My dad is already "mourning" the loss of some of the Newspaper print versions, he doesn't use a PC and has no interest in them. I used to subscribe to PCWorld but they got to the point of 1/2 the articles were unrelated to PCs. I now subscribe to a magazine whose cover contents are pretty much all PC info, including: The top 10 MOBOs, Sandy Bridge CPU, High-End Router Shoot Out etc. For this I will pay for a hard copy that I can page back and forth easily, and keep as a future reference issue. In the end, they can be recycled, so that isn't to much of a factor in my decision. I also took the survey. :)

I don't think the question intended to imply that you are a subscriber. It was just asking if you'd consider subscribing or buying it from a news stand. So in your case the correct answer to the question would be "Not Likely", which hopefully was an option.

Thank you,
Bill

I love the feel of the glossy pages and the smell of fresh ink, reach into the middle of the stack to find one without bent corners. The Borders lets me read all I want and it's not beyond my skills to cover it front to back. Sad to say, the mag gets very little interest from me as to who buys advertising from them. I actually get far more information from the paper copy than I would have patience for on any web site. Forums can provide far more useful and direct to the subject information. I do still enjoy a paper between by fingers and more often a paperback. News in monthly print whether newsprint or glossy, lead times dictate events are reported months late. I still look for the old standbys, Popular Science and Popular Mechanics, who've outlasted the years and seen many a mag reach a pinnicle or circulation and then drop from site. Many started with a narrow vision and were forced to diversify and accept advertising for other smaller ads. You've seen them, maybe up to 6 companies selling infra-red goggles and wireless microphones. Goes back to the fifties and some further.
