Are you ready for Vista?

We've done our initial tests, looked at the interface, and debated whether this is an evolutionary or revolutionary OS upgrade. Now all that's missing are your thoughts and experiences. Are you excited about upgrading to Vista? What do you like about it? What do you hate about it? And, what kind of coverage do you want to see from us?

I'm more excited to see what new hardware will come as Vista rolls out like the touch screen that a couple of models had mentioned over on CNet.In terms of coverage, I'd be curious to see how well adopted is it, and how many people end up returning it or try to. Additionally, for all the "coupons" that people got to upgrade, how many will actually use them? Will some try the 64 bit version and what kind of driver support will there be? When will companies like Dell stop allowing people to select XP as an operating system for their computer is something I'm waiting to see myself.Regards,JB

The price of windows Vista is insane. The only version that is a reasonable price is the home basic edition and that sucks. Luckily I have a friend of a friend who works at Microsoft and may be able to score me a cheap copy. I say wait till the price goes down. Paying that much money for an OS is just silly. It looks amazing though.

I like the interface but I already have most of those features on my Mac. At the price point it would cost almost a thousand dollars to iinstall on all my computers.Way to Costly.I don't like the Licensing limitations and I don't like what Big Bill is doing with the hard earned money I ended up paying for previous MS product. I hate MS support. Try and get a fast competent resolution to a problem. Nope, I won't be buying or installing Vista.

The first reason why I won't buy Vista is because of the transparent windows. That got annoying mighty fast. The second reason why I won't buy Vista is because I feel they designed more clutter for it. Microsoft has a history of finding more ways to add unnecessary junk to their OS's.

I had an opportunity to play with it on a customer's laptop. It was rather annoying in that it asked 3 or 4 times to allow it to run/do/install an application when I tried to install it. I think MS has gone from no security to too much, but this was only a short exposure to it.PK

May be my imaginattion but it seems that Vista and it's DRM is putting and end to Video capture. ATI does not have a multi media center for the All in wonder cards. They only have video drivers.Sonic / Roxio MY DVD won't work and they do not have working versions that work as the old ones did. Same story with Movie Factory. If I am misled or confused please correct me and inform me of ways to clear up my misconception.

I bought Vista Home Basic the day it was available. I had run the Vista Advisor several times and each time it assured me everything was just fine to run it on my system. The install went okay, as did the initial updates it performed after installing, and what I needed to do to upgrade drivers. However, it altered the way my HP printer functioned, for which I discovered HP was not going to release Vista drivers in the near future. Then the LCD screen began to flicker, more and more as time went by. While the Advisor told me my graphics card was fine, now I'm beginning to think it was having trouble keeping up with the demands. I was constantly getting IE shutting down and restarting, and getting script errors offline. The "wow" experience quickly turned into an "ahh man!" experience. I have concluded upgrading is not a wise idea...a system designed with the muscle hardware needed is one thing, but this was just becoming a nightmare. So, I reinstalled XP. Whenever it's time to get a new computer, I will go with Vista or whatever the latest Microsoft incarnation is then.:(
