Having traveled the world:1. Jump Drive, bigger the better2. Surge Protection, enuf' said3. Computer Sleeve (commuter flights make you check carry on baggage at the gate, remove the computer which is in the computer sleeve, carry it on and live happily ever after, plus the flight attendants appreciate it)4. Remeber carry on luggage in this day and time means only 1. You can get by most airlines with 45 linear inches (H W L) on the baggage. Also a purse is allowed, that means for the guys too.5. Batteries for the computer, preferably two (power outlets are usually taken months in advance, most companies will laugh at you upgrading to business, and first class, yeah right)6. International people take the AC crossovers (most computers will work on 240 if you got the crossover)7. International again, paper size is A48. International again, the French keyboard has suttle variances from ours in the USA, be aware9 I could tell more tips but am limited to 1000 char

1. Check Airport dining areas for seating with mains power to charge your laptop battery.2. Search for open Wireless hotspots, sometimes you can access the VIP lounges wifi from your gate.3. Save on space with a jumpdrive and small bluetooth mouse4. Instead of bringing a charger for each device get one of those adapters where you change the tip for different devices.5. Push your gear down to the end of the bench when going thru security to make space for others to flow through behind you.6. If they try to check your carry on luggage at the gate or when boarding - refuse, dont board the plane without it. trust me.7. Always use e-tickets, if you lose a paper ticket you're totally screwed, even with proof of purchase they wont let you board.8. Listen to your portable music player on takeoff/landing unless a stewardess actually bails you up about it - it all bs, and doesnt effect a thing.
