PC Goes directly onto bios setup utility

Trying to revive an old machine (Gateway G6 -450)PC starts and finds the cd-rom and hard drive but then goes right into the bios setup utilityAfter setting it to its default settings the screen reads JUMPER MUST BE RETURNED TO NORMAL POSITION BEFORE CHANGES WILL TAKE EFFECT IT IS SAFE TO TURN MACHINE OFF NOW.I have set the jumper to every possible position on the HD but the same thing happens every time. Wont boot from ANY disc or floppyCAN ANYONE HELP???????

Which jumper are you setting, a jumper on the mother board or the jumper on the HD??

Actually found the problem by mistake!! The jumper on the mobo wasnt seated properly!!Thanks anyway for responding
