How is the speed of the processor taken into account for these tests? It would seem to me that a faster processor will speed up any action (interface or otherwise). The speed of a menu dropping will happen faster on a faster processor than on a computer with a slower processor. It is also expected that Vista will be used on faster processor computers than XP was.

{size:14px}I'm sitting out on a laptop purchase because Microsoft is doing this to its users. Vista sounds like everything I hate about XP. I don't need "pretty" when I'm working; I need functional. I don't want to see brilliant animation; I want stuff open immediately. I pulled all that gunk out of my XP computers as soon as I found out it could be done and I'm now well past my initial frustration at losing the no nonsense approach of Win98. Now Microsoft is literally forcing Vista down the throats of the majority of buyers of new computers.I was a heartbeat from getting a MacBook two weeks ago. It's just the heart attack from the pricetag FOR THE COLOUR OF THE CASE that slowed me down enough to see that Apple is still far too overpriced. That leaves me with no laptop options until Vista's bugs are worked out for musicians, its flaws are removed for people to use their machines without fear of being locked down by them like criminals, and now its cutsie factor to either be removed or given an opt out.Someone is gonna mention something other than the Two Biggest Bullies but I'm just not familiar enough with other systems to even know if they CAN do what I demand of my computer.I'm highly considering learning how to just wipe the drive of a new PC laptop free of Vista, purchase a clean version of XP Pro, load it and just bypass this entire snowballing fiasco.Marvelous, Microsoft.
