Which version of windows are you running?

Your laptop's power settings control what happens when you close the lid--with and without AC power.

If you're using Windows 7 (and I think Vista, but I'm not sure off-hand), click Start, type power, and select Power Options. In the left pane, click Choose what closing the lid does. I have it set to go into Sleep mode if its running on batteries, but to "Do nothing" if plugged in.

Yup u can fix this in control panel > power options for Win7. It will give u 2 choices. 1. What pressing the power button does?
2. What closing the lid does?
Furthur u can set what to do when the laptop is plugged in or on battery.
Lookin 4 trouble
U will never know what hit ya
