Here's an update.The computer works generally fine now. I ran StartUp Control Panel, a utility a member of this board recommended. On a whim, I unchecked three program start-ups- Hot Sync, Palm, and Life Drive, programs my wife uses on her computer.That seems to have stopeed the issue. IE, Netscape and the general windows operating system seem to operate a lot better now.I'm thinking the memory grade, also recommended here, helped as well.Thanks for all the help here.
