I tried to install the newest version of free Zone Alarm firewall. The problem is that it says I need to be an administer, and it will not write registry values; however, I am the only user of the computer and a computer admin. I am running MS Windows XP SP2. I don't know if using DropMyRights is affecting it or not. I do not use it on the Zone Alarm shortcut though. What is up with my computer?

{size:18px}[/size]:D Hi Maulds : The most appropiate place to ask those questions is on the Zone Alarm Forums @ http://forums.zonealarm.com/zonelabs ; have you done that ? On the Avast Antivirus Support Forums, there is a regular "Helper" named "DavidR" who's a DropMyRights Advocate; perhaps if you were to post a Request for Help specifically addressing him at http://forum.avast.c...x.php?board=1.0 , he would be able to provide the info to resolve your problem !? Lastly, I read an interesting article by the Editor of Spyware Weekly Newsletter where he commented on the relative merits of DropMyRights and an Alternative he recommended called "MakeMeAdmin"; start at http://blogs.msdn.co.../24/193721.aspx .

It is not just with Zone Alarm. I cannot run Microsoft Update or install other programs. I ran Windows in safe mode and restored the system to way before the problem started, but it did not fix the problem. I have scanned my system several times with AVG, Ad-aware, and Spybot for viruses and spyware/adware. This is getting to be a real problem.
