Taskhost.exe Consuming 50% Of The Cpu

my processor is Intel Core 2 Duo (2.93GHz)
taskhost.exe I assume is a quite small background application of windows that does not have the ability to consume 50% of my CPU.......
this problem has emerged newly.....I cant play games smoothly now!
Do you guys know the source of this problem?have any solutions other than always terminating the process or installing windows again?
