Hello there,

I am a sole trader starting my own business and whilst I am fairly IT savvy - I am struggling to sync my network of iPhone/iPad/lanova laptop - and so it's after three days of messing around I am admitting defeat and am reaching out to you, as a local expert, for advice!

I would like to be able to get some support to sync the following to all three devices:

3 x email accounts.

Business and personal contacts.

Business and personal calendars.

If this is something you feel you can help me with please get in touch via email or Email me.

Many thanks

For email, use IMAP, and you can easily set it up on all machines. (Unfortunately, I think you'll have to manually sync contacts.) The other option is to use a web-based interface for that.

For calendars, you can use gmail.

Hi, SuPaw, and welcome to the forums.

Can you tell us what program(s) you use for mail, contacts, and calendars?

In the meantime, I'll tell you what I do: I use Gmail.

I have all of my email accounts (six, I think) go into my Gmail account. My contacts are there, too, and I use Google Calendar.

Not surprisingly, syncing that with my Android phone is a no-brainer.

I don't have an iPhone, but I do have an iPad. When I set it up, I gave it my Gmail address and password, and it synced the calendar automatically. It also set up the Gmail account in Mail, but I found that I preferred the Gmail app.

The problem is contacts. I haven't yet found a way to sync Gmail contacts with the iPad's built-in Contacts app.

Lincoln,

In theory, iOS can sync contacts (as well as mail and calendars) through Gmail. This is supposedly how you set it up: http://support.googl...n&answer=138740

I cannot honestly recall if I tried using this or not at any point.

Even if you get it to work, you are kind of outta luck if you want to sync contacts with a program like Outlook as Google does not offer a contact sync utility for Windows like they do for calendars. There are some third party solutions that might work.

iCloud (and MobileMe while it lasts) will sync contacts with a Windows computer using Outlook, but obviously you then will have issues syncing it to an Android phone.

As noted by others, we will need to know what program you are using for mail/contacts/calendar.

If you are using Outlook, then for calendar and contacts, I would suggest using iCloud. It will work fine for both a Windows computer (you will need to down load the iCloud Control Panel for Windows) and iOS devices (iPhone & iPad).

For email, then that will largely be a function of the email account in question. If the email accounts support IMAP, then as others mentioned you can just set up iMAP on all three devices. If they are only POP email accounts, then it gets a bit more messy.

I found a solution to the contacts-from-gmail problem:

Tap Settings> Mail,Contacts, Calendars> Add Account. But instead of Gmail, tap Microsoft Exchange.

On the first page of the Exchange wizard, enter your full Gmail address (whateveryournameis@gmail.com) in both the Email and Username fields. Leave the Domain field blank, butenter your password. Then tap Next.

In the next page's Serverfield, enter m.google.com. Tap Next.

The rest of the wizard should be easy to figure out.

That is exactly the method used in the link I provided a couple of posts above.
