Can't comment on most of these but of the ones I know about:Firefox 2, WinPatrol and Adblock Plus: along with Thunderbird, AVG Free and Belarc Advisor, the very first things I install on any new machine. WinPatrol (I use the Plus Edition for the program database) is absolutely essential for decrapifying a new machine and controlling what runs at startup. Nikons: Both the D40X & D80 are excellent cameras but the D80 hardly counts as a 2007 product. I'll be trading in my D50 on a D80 the day after I win the PowerBall. McAfee Site Advisor: I hate McAfee and kill it on any new machine that I buy, but I found Site Advisor a handy addon...it's steered me away from some sites that otherwise looked legitimate. Fujitsu ScanSnap s500: This would be a great product if your idea of a great product involves constant paper jams and multi feeds. Not one of my best investments. Trip Advisor: Worth its weight in gold for travel planning.

I call shenanigans. Let's see the technologically inferior xbox elite is in the top 20. Yet the PS3 with it's built in Blu-Ray doesn't even make the 100. You lose credibility on that decision PCworld. It might not have the sales to back it up yet but what an awesome media center machine it is. Linux, bluray, video's,music,Internet,Chat,Wireless everything. You dropped the ball 4 Sure. Sorry just MHO.

VMware PlayerDownload - http://www.vmware.co...wnload/player/I don't see why they put a link to "Check Prices" for a FREE product.

How on Earth can you post a list of the best of anything of 2007 when we haven't even finished the month of May yet?! What are you trying to say, that these products are so good that they couldn't possibly be surpassed during the rest of the year? What nonsense!

The 100 Best Products listing was formerly known as the World Class Awards. They are given mid-year (and encompass the prior 12 months) because they were originally started as part of PC Expo. The show is no more, but the awards -- and their timing -- lives on. Next year's list will incorporate the rest of this year as well as the beginning of next year. For more explanation, please see Harry McCracken's blog entry on the awards.

I like Google and their toys as much as anyone, but #1 ?? Not.How about a real poll of folks here and then use THAT as the list.It looks more like whoever pays the most gets to be #1 and down from there...So If I pay $100 I should be able to get my website listed #77 or so...cool!

We tabulated all of the suggestions and used it to help form the list. Oh great! That explains why this list is so skewed ...Thanks! But still don't explain why the PS3 got left out. PC World should get out from under that rock a little more often.
