Probably not. Some laptop CPUs are upgradable, but it's by no means a standard option. Contact Acer to find out for sure.

Proabably not as they may be two different socket types. Also, going for a Dual core to Quad core could be problematic as well.

I don't know for sure that you can't upgrade the CPU. You may be able to, I just couldn't find the info to determine if it could be done. That's why I said to contact Acer. When (if) you contact Acer you will most probably have to have full model number and serial number available, be prepared.

If you are not using all the available RAM, then doing so will speed it up.
Using an AV that doesn't hog resources also helps.

What do you want this PC to do? This lappy was designed as a budget build,,, so it will never run resource heavy games well.

One other option that you have is getting an SSD. (Note: Due to TRIM support, Windows 7 or later and AHCI mode on the SATA controller are recommended.)

• Intel®Core i3 350M PGA 2.26G 35W, TJ90, VT, 3M L3
• Intel®Core i5 430M PGA 2.26G up to SC 2.53G, 3M L3
• Intel®Core i5 520M 2.4G 3M

Now you have to decide cost effectiveness. What will it cost to do this, and would that money be better put toward a new lappy?? This brings us back to what do you want this machine to do? Let us know.

Mostly I use this laptop for video encoding and editing and sometimes I played some games on emulator which really need more than a dual core processor to run. I've already checked on ebay for the i5 520m 2.4g and it cost around $250.

I would put the money toward a new lappy. Trying to upgrade a budget build lappy will be a very unpleasant experience IMO. I suspect the FSB will not do justice to an i5 processor, thus making the i5 upgrade pointless.

The "M" in PM/GM means mobile. I assume (this means guess) that means it's socketed for mobile devices, such as lappys.

I do not think that you would be able to upgrade its processor. You need to change the complete motherboard if you want to upgrade for the same. Laptops doesn't let you achieve the same.
