You should be more specific:
- By not getting on the internet, what do you mean? You cannot get connectivity? It's not picking up your ethernet adapter?
- Does it recognize your DVD drives when you look in "Computer"?
- What method did you use to install Windows 7?
Any other specific information would help as well.

The problem might be associated with the source you have used for installation i.e. Disc or image of Windows. There might be some files corrupted or some files are missing on the source. Try repairing the Windows installation using another source.

Hi, Kenneth, and welcome to the forums.
I'm assuming you purchased a retail Windows 7 Upgrade and used that to upgrade the OS. Despite your current problem, I think that was a wise decision.
I suspect your problem is with the drivers. The Windows 7 DVD may not come with the drivers needed to run your network connection and your DVD drive.
I suggest you download the drivers from http://en.community....driver-cab.aspx. Obviously, you'll have to do this on another computer. Put the drivers on a flash drive, and walk them over to your 4300 i.
Good luck,
Lincoln

well Kenny i think you do not have a laptop but a dell dimension 4300 and you should use your service tag number to get the right drivers from dell !
go to dell site then click support in the upper right
then select ( i think) drivers and manuals the the right drivers for your machine will be available to you !
hope this helps you
good luck and take care
