Why is Audacity not on this list? It has to be one of the best audio editors I have ever seen. And I believe it did make the top 100 products list as well.

is this supposed to be a list of the best multimedia utilities out there right now? or just a random 14 chosen because ...... well, I don't quite know.We don't need 10 or 15 new utilities every month: we want to know what are the best of the bunch right now out there.yes, yes, I know it's somewhat subjective as to what's best, depending on one's needs, but I'm sure it's not that difficult to come up with somewhat of a consensus from the experts (you guys).thanks.

Audacity not listed? "Best utilities" I think not. This is why I dropped my subscription to PCW. The mag has really gotten lame and unreliable.

I take back what I said earlier. This isn't suppost to be a "best of" list. It's just some notable utilites, some of which look very good. DVD Shrink happens to be exactly what I have been looking for. Great suggestion. This actually is the sort of article that I like to see form PCWorld.

so ............I get my August issue of PCW, and what article (or ...review??) is PROMINENTLY featured at the beginning of the magazine (pg. 11) which claims to have "... up to the minute tech news, reviews ..." blah; blah; blah;Bad enough they tried to pawn this poorly-researched piece of crap off on us back three months ago, but now .......... IT'S BACK !!!!!!Yes, this PCW is definitely slipping; riding on its laurels, or something.I pretty well gave up on PC Mag a few years ago when PCW came on renewed, strong, fresh, current, and most of all: reliable. They seemed to stop catering to their advertisers and wrote instead for their readers. Now the pendulum seems to have swung back again, and I've been very pleasantly surprised by PC Mag, and VERY disappointed by PC World.Oh well, I guess everything goes in cycles. Time to head back to the old standard: PC Magazine, John Dvorak, and the rest of the crew.
