I strongly suspect Google's refusal to submit the information requested by the DOJ was not in an effort to protect our privacy. Instead, I believe it was in order to protect its own. I believe Google was afraid that the general public would discover just how much information Google collects and stores about their users.

reminds me of german film the lives of others which one an oscar for best international film this year. This is spying with people knowing .

Another example of just how misinformed we the general public are. I personally was under the impression that Google was the "best" at protecting our personal information and keep those "snoops", be it the government or any other "nosey parker" out of our collective business.
