When I first got my HP Pavilion deal from http://www.just4deal.com it worked like a charm. I installed Norton 360 and soon after that little things started to happen. Finally, the computer started to reboot at what seemed random times. I had the computer checked out by a 'professional' who was only able to slightly improve the computer's performance. He took out Norton 360 claiming that it was damaging some parts of the operating system, Windows XP Entertainment Edition. I really don't want to reinstall the operating system, as I have installed some free software that is no longer available.Lately, when I try to turn off the computer via 'RUN etc', the computer reboots. I have to resort to turning off the computer via front panel switch.I use the computer for work and don't really want to have much down time. I wouldn't trust HP anymore

It would appear that Symantec/Norton 360 might be what caused your problems...NOT HP. Doesn't quite make sense to me...

I have to agree with Smax. We have had more posts on problems with Symantec products. I had loads of trouble with my Media Center and blamed the XP Media Center Edition. When I put the Vista upgrade on, everthing was fine. However, it was probably the lack of Symantec products that helped. As for your downloads, I have a download folder with sub-folders for each program. That way when it comes time to reinstall, I have it handy. Also I keep NO data on the boot or system disc. That way, reinstalls don't upset the applecart.Hindsight is always 20/20.My HP Media Center is 9 months old now, and is still going fine. The only thing I don't like is that it has the old silver color  not the new black color.8) It's unfair to blame a hardware manufacturer for software problems, especially when it software that did not come on the machine.

Thou mustn't hateth HP. jkBut seriously. Aside from Frankenstein and my B-machine, I've bought HP, Gateway, Acer, Compaq and Dell. The only companies I hate are Acer and Gateway... hardware failures and bad "tech support" agents. Your problem seems purely software related. Redirect your anger. Hate Symantec. Get AVG. I <3 AVG. Or you could go with McAfee. I've never had issues with that software effecting any of my babies. Maybe it'd be the right fit for you. [quote name='ITman'] > > I wouldn't trust HP anymore
