[quote name='spike']> {quote:title=PeggyFair wrote:}{quote}> {quote:title=spike wrote:}{quote}Thats a lot better!!, ...........however you still don't have DX10 capable video cards ( or chips ), in any of the three???? , too expensive?, forgot to ask ?, don't care ?> > > > > > > > > > > > 4GB of RAM will do you no good, 32bit vista will only recognise 3.25 GB and in some cases, exceding that limit will actually slow the comp. down.> > > > > > > > So what you are saying is that the 2gb is sufficient? or upgrade to 3gb? I see they have a 1GB Kingston memory stick for 45.00. I'm assuming that's a good brand and that 45 bucks is reasonable for a 1gb memory stick? I swear, I'm so clueless when it comes to all things computer-relates! 8)

I've just made my mind up. I think I'm going to just spend the 300 bucks and get it. I mean, if it's only say, 50 bucks cheaper to do it myself, then it aint worth it at all! I'll spend a little more, but at least I won't have to spend the time to try to install it because I might just mess it up!

You could remove one ( it won't hurt a thing ), carefully, and take it to ......like, best buy or circuit city, fry's, whatever, and have them match it up for you,.....or ....you can down load memtest and run it, that will tell you all you need to know, .....but that might be a little to" techy "for you. .....or.....find out from Gateway what brand they use and what the " timings " are or you can have them install it for you.

:D Good luck, I know it has upped the price tag, but you should be good for a couple of years, anyway............unless you take up HARDCORE , gaming and/or graphic design.

Oh, another thing, just to make sure I'm on the same page, this dx10 thingy is going to help me with clearer graphics right? since I'm trying to be an amateur graphic designer? I'm just trying to reassure myself and make myself feel better for spending an extra 300 bucks! LOL

LOLIt should....it's still new tech, but within the next year, you'll be seeing most of the newer programs and some of the older ones will issue patches, taking advantage of the greater detail and performance that DX10 will provide, and if you use Vista, you'll have no choice, but to adopt it anyway, so you may as well learn to use and love it,.........thank you Microsoft
