That's largely the point, Jackie. Crooks know that there are plenty of people who don't close these holes in old, outdated software and are therefore vulnerable. Businesses, too.
For instance, plenty of people might ignore the updates for QuickTime or WinZip because they don't use the software, not realizing that they add ActiveX controls that makes IE vulnerable. This is for them.

I wish you had given the microsoft release # (ie, KBxxxxxx) this would help readers indentify the fixes in case their computer failed to install them

Seems those files were from back in 2005 and 2006 nothing is from beyond 12/15/2006


ALL about a year old !
