The older or outmoded tech may be a better deal make the comparisons right away. For example, the older version of a DVD burner may burn at 10x while the newer burns at 12X and costs $50 more. Ask yourself if the extra 2x is worth $50.

Good point, rk. Tends to come down to what the end-user needs or foresees.
