"Paul's online supporters are stuffing the virtual ballot by voting early and often at political polling Web sites."
Your tone suggests that support is illegitimate; are you part of the big-media cabal that fears its coming irrelevance?

This is old news. Actually it's not even news it's untraceable theory.
This spam can't be from a Ron Paul supporter because they are generally smart enough to know that people don't enjoy spam.
It must have really depressed the Mainstream Media when they tried and failed to find any real dirt on Ron Paul.
Is this the best they can do?

Wow! Talk about a failure of an article:
1.It fails when used to deflect Dr.Paul's OBVIOUS popularity, based upon the fact nobody is stupid enough to assume that those attending Ron Paul events and donating to his campaign to the tune of millions might be either spam or bots.
2: It fails, well, because there is absolutely no evidence connecting it to Dr. Paul's campaign or even to his supporters.
3. The article fails in keeping me as a subscriber to PC World.
Hopefully in the future the editors will use better discretion.

Sounds like those rambunctious YRs [Young Republicans] at work trying to smear Ron Paul's campaign. I remember when I was a YR, we'd swipe signs from other candidates on the night before an election and move them over to in front of polling places... a thousand years ago.

Sorry, Ron Paul's finance numbers, devoid of loans, matching and special interest, proves he is as popular, if not moreso, than the "buzz." I consider this a military industrial complex hit piece on Ron Paul. Yellow Journalism.

Ron Paul is certainly a "top tier" candidate. I have been creating a web site to demonstrate just how wrong this "long shot" label is when referring to Ron Paul. While Ron Paul registers low in the national polls, he dominates in the Straw Polls, Debate Polls, Fund Raising, Web Traffic and Grass Roots Networking.

Please visit www.thecaseforronpaul.com and decide for yourself.

Thanks for demonstrating Ron Paul supporters spam any site mentioning him, fellows. Of course it is Paulites flooding the Web with spam email. It is the same tactic you all use to create phony votes for him in web polls, keep his name high on search engines and, of course, invade sites like this. Paul is a certifiable moonbat who has attracted the dregs of the far Right -- white supremacists, gold standard zealots, gun nuts, persons taking a break from Lyndon LaRouche, etc. Of course his followers don't know how to behave.

I consider Paul's long association with white supremacists and stated desire to repeal all civil rights laws and return the country to racial segregation the most abominable of his dirty laundry, but there is plenty more.

Fortunately, Ron Paul will not garner even five percent of the vote.

Spam tactics? I wasn't aware that spam could generate over 2.5 million in political contributions in a month, win staw polls, and magically create hundreds of supporters at rallies and debates. Perhaps you should comment on Dr. Paul's legitimate success on the internet such as his Meetup groups, Youtube subscribers, and over 70% of all campaign donations originating from the ronpaul2008.com website rather than only putting ink to paper when the campaign or supporters allegedly do something negative.

Sophlady,

The logic that if B likes A, then A = B is flawed. Simply because some of the more radical supporters of Dr. Paul are anarchists and believe in conspiracy does not mean that Dr. Paul shares those beliefs. Dr. Paul provides an alternative message than other candiates, thus it is likely for him to garner more support from the disenchanted. It's ironic, considering you seem to subscribe to an inane conspiracy that suggests all of Ron Paul's supporters are spammers or extremists. Pot calling the kettle black?

Judge candidates by their positions, not by their supporters.

Garbage in Garbage out.

Since signing up to post a comment here, I have received more SPAM from PC World and its affiliates than any 'alleged' candidate botnets.

I can provide more numbers to that affect than you have in this article.

Quit being an echo chamber of disinfo and slander and stick to reporting correctly.

I get over 200 daily spam mail on one of my email addresses, and have yet to get one about my favorite candidate. Darn! Of course this is a copy of a "news" report from Wired magazine by Sarah Sterland who was paid by someone on Rudy Giuliani's website, according to this youtube video:

I dislike spam as it disrupts communication with my customers. However I prefer to censor my own email and as such I ended up reading this SPAM email. Because it was so different to the usual junk that I receive, I actually followed the link mentioned. I soon learnt that America is trillions of dollars in debt due to its foreign policy and that the Federal Reserve is devaluing the US dollar.

I am an Australian and I run an online business that develops and sells a software product globally. Our price is set in US dollars; however our bottom line has been eroded with the lowering value of the US dollar. I was puzzled but had no real knowledge as to why this was happening. Now I know why.

I am a great believer in free speech, and no matter how annoying SPAM is, it is a form of free speech.

zforce, judging by the time of your reply you are a great supporter of Ron Paul. However I believe your enthusiasm has colored your view of this news article. The news story contains statements such as:

"What is unique about the Paul spam is that it doesn't try to entice the recipient to do anything, such as visit a page loaded up with malware."

"...the spam may have been sent by someone trying to make Paul look bad by associating him with spamming."

and the closing paragraph states:

"The spate of spam supporting Paul does not urge recipients to fork over personal or financial information, says MX Logic's Masiello. "It just asks you to support Ron Paul," he says."

I believe this is an unbiased news story and your post is doing more harm than good for your cause.

I am an Australian BTW - it is the middle of the day here :)

Indeed, I understand the position that was taken by the article:

Warn readers of the issue of "political spam" by using as an example the SUPPOSED Ron Paul spam that was INITIALLY used to undermine/rationalize Ron Paul's support reinforcing MSM polls.

Fact of the matter is, there was absolutely no reason for the writer to use and focus on the example of Ron Paul's supposed spam, when in fact, spam exists for almost all the so called major candidates(to the point of disgust).

"...the spam may have been sent by someone trying to make Paul look bad by associating him with spamming."

: Or it "MAY" have been...Leave it open ended and let the reader decide just who MAY have sent it

I'm another who gets a few hundred spam emails a day, and I've yet to get a Ron Paul spam email. I feel left out.

I'm in the process of building a pro Ron Paul website even though I'm an Australian. I believe that the world needs Ron Paul, or someone like him, in the White House ASAP.

You may ask why the hell an Aussie would be supporting a US presidential candidate... well I'm another who earn's a living off the Internet and being Australian my income has dropped massively with the devaluation of the US$ in the last 2 years.

When Ron Paul is elected President, at least I'm a chance of getting back some of that lost revenue if he can get congress to reduce spending, stop the wars and pull the plug on the Fed's printing presses.

Will my simple website help? I dunno, but at least I'm trying. I'm not allowed to donate funds to a US campaign, but they can't stop me building websites... coming soon vote1ronpaul.com

Have you not heard the saying "No news is bad news"? Be thankful that PC World has written an article referencing Ron Paul. This gives you a chance to say something positive. Negative statements about the press will only work against you and your cause. Many people will have received good information from PC World; they trust it as a good news source. By insulting PC World, you are insulting the readership, the very people who you want to get your message out to.

If you really want to support Ron Paul, promote solutions, not problems.

----

BTW I think Ron Paul is a man of great integrity.

I wonder if you think that the $4.2 million donated on 11/5/2007 was from robots creating phony money!

The Wanka's that claimed Ron Paul supporters were voting multiple times in the polls probably think that those same Ron Paul supporters are sending donations to the Ron Paul campaign multiple times, just to inflate the figures... heheheeee... whatta lot of wanka's.
