This spam can't be from a Ron Paul supporter because they are generally smart enough to know that people don't enjoy spam.
It must have really depressed the Mainstream Media when they tried and failed to find any real dirt on Ron Paul.
Is this the best they can do?

1.It fails when used to deflect Dr.Paul's OBVIOUS popularity, based upon the fact nobody is stupid enough to assume that those attending Ron Paul events and donating to his campaign to the tune of millions might be either spam or bots.
2: It fails, well, because there is absolutely no evidence connecting it to Dr. Paul's campaign or even to his supporters.
3. The article fails in keeping me as a subscriber to PC World.
Hopefully in the future the editors will use better discretion.

I consider Paul's long association with white supremacists and stated desire to repeal all civil rights laws and return the country to racial segregation the most abominable of his dirty laundry, but there is plenty more.
Fortunately, Ron Paul will not garner even five percent of the vote.

Sophlady,
The logic that if B likes A, then A = B is flawed. Simply because some of the more radical supporters of Dr. Paul are anarchists and believe in conspiracy does not mean that Dr. Paul shares those beliefs. Dr. Paul provides an alternative message than other candiates, thus it is likely for him to garner more support from the disenchanted. It's ironic, considering you seem to subscribe to an inane conspiracy that suggests all of Ron Paul's supporters are spammers or extremists. Pot calling the kettle black?
Judge candidates by their positions, not by their supporters.

Since signing up to post a comment here, I have received more SPAM from PC World and its affiliates than any 'alleged' candidate botnets.
I can provide more numbers to that affect than you have in this article.
Quit being an echo chamber of disinfo and slander and stick to reporting correctly.

I am an Australian and I run an online business that develops and sells a software product globally. Our price is set in US dollars; however our bottom line has been eroded with the lowering value of the US dollar. I was puzzled but had no real knowledge as to why this was happening. Now I know why.
I am a great believer in free speech, and no matter how annoying SPAM is, it is a form of free speech.

"What is unique about the Paul spam is that it doesn't try to entice the recipient to do anything, such as visit a page loaded up with malware."
"...the spam may have been sent by someone trying to make Paul look bad by associating him with spamming."
and the closing paragraph states:
"The spate of spam supporting Paul does not urge recipients to fork over personal or financial information, says MX Logic's Masiello. "It just asks you to support Ron Paul," he says."
I believe this is an unbiased news story and your post is doing more harm than good for your cause.
I am an Australian BTW - it is the middle of the day here :)

Warn readers of the issue of "political spam" by using as an example the SUPPOSED Ron Paul spam that was INITIALLY used to undermine/rationalize Ron Paul's support reinforcing MSM polls.
Fact of the matter is, there was absolutely no reason for the writer to use and focus on the example of Ron Paul's supposed spam, when in fact, spam exists for almost all the so called major candidates(to the point of disgust).
"...the spam may have been sent by someone trying to make Paul look bad by associating him with spamming."
: Or it "MAY" have been...Leave it open ended and let the reader decide just who MAY have sent it

I'm in the process of building a pro Ron Paul website even though I'm an Australian. I believe that the world needs Ron Paul, or someone like him, in the White House ASAP.
You may ask why the hell an Aussie would be supporting a US presidential candidate... well I'm another who earn's a living off the Internet and being Australian my income has dropped massively with the devaluation of the US$ in the last 2 years.
When Ron Paul is elected President, at least I'm a chance of getting back some of that lost revenue if he can get congress to reduce spending, stop the wars and pull the plug on the Fed's printing presses.
Will my simple website help? I dunno, but at least I'm trying. I'm not allowed to donate funds to a US campaign, but they can't stop me building websites... coming soon vote1ronpaul.com

If you really want to support Ron Paul, promote solutions, not problems.

BTW I think Ron Paul is a man of great integrity.
