Why doesn't Microsoft just stop making Vista and release XP version 2.0 instead?

Perhaps this new XP Update will make it easier for people to grow into Vista.

yeah, after all we all know how easy it's to come up with a new OS.

Wait a sec, why don't you just use a resource editor to change your boot screen from "windows xp" to "windows xp 2.0" so you can feel good about yourself?

What would happen if one day you go start up your computer and XP has morphed into Vista?

Then I would A) delete the partition on my Hard-drive with Vista on it, B) Install Wine on the Ubuntu partition. and C) call Vigor and ask them why my $3,000 PC had turned into a piece of junk.

On the contrary. Some of the beta testers have claimed improved performance.

Vista is to XP as Hi-Def TV is to morse code.

Yesterday, for the first time in 4 months, I logged into my XP partition on my Vista/XP dual boot machine to do the windows update thing and install a graphics driver. I had to laugh at how cartoonish and obsolete XP looks to me now. Vista Rocks, XP is seriously outdated.

In six months when you guys finally stop struggling and actually upgrade your machines you'll see what I mean.

And please don't bother telling me why Ubuntu or OS-X is so much better than Vista or XP. I've heard those arguments and they're all a bunch of delusional rants.

You can get on the bus and have a nice ride or you can stand in front of it and get flattened. I don't care either way. I know what Vista is and isn't because I actually OWN IT and USE IT every day, for work and for play. It's great. By far the best OS that Microsoft has offered so far. Accept the truth.

Well God help us then.....

So now I'm closed-minded am I? So what would you call yourself for rejecting any claim that Vista isn't junk? I consider myself pretty open minded, but I do tend to stick with products that help me do what I need to do. Vista does that.

Gee Whiz I think I'm having a deja-vu moment from 2001...I swear I heard exactly the same whining back then about XP. Now you (and all the Vista poo-pooers) are crying about Vista. I can't wait until the next MS OS comes out so you can tell us all how much better Vista is than the new software.

Like I said, I use Vista each and every day, work and play, upwards of 12 hours per day, 7 days a week. It works great. The only complaint I have is it takes longer to boot than Windows XP, but it is so much more mature and refined that I can live with the 2 minutes to boot vs 1 minute for XP.

Ubuntu? OS-X? No thanks, I guess I like games and development software too much. Oh and my money in Apple's case - yeah, I like my money, cuz I need things like food and shelter.

Here's the one and only request I have for all of you posters out there in cyber-land, if you aren't running Vista then just try and keep your who-knows-what based opinions on Vista to yourself. Seriously.

Well first of all you need to learn to read No where did I ever say vista was junk. Vista is actually a very solid operating system. you also need to put your little temper in check. and yes you are closed minded to other peoples opinions otherwise we would not be having this conversation. But indeed god help us if it is the future....

Okay. Let's not let this Discussion get out of hand. DoctorDoom and Kersen, I can tell you both feel passionate about your opinions. Please try to refrain from any type of attack against the other; whether directly or indirectly.
