Well, isn't it rather obvious why this has become reality? Why waste gasoline to drive down to Wal-Mart and buy something when you could order it in the comfort of your own home at half the price at a retail store? Perhaps the worst downside to online-shopping is the fact that if some Cracker(more commonly, hacker ) broke into the web site's system, then your credit card number, address, et al could be exploited and you wind up facing Identity-Theft. Most larger sites(Amazon, Newegg, Buy.com) do have enhanced security, so you're probably safe there.Something to note: a site that has "https" instead of "http" in the address bar means that you don't have to worry about the site being insecure. On Firefox, I know that https addresses appear hilighted. And also, the electronic and computer industries seem to be the most rapidly-increasing as far as online commerce goes, especially on computers or computer components(Thanks to Newegg and other places such as ZipZoomFly and TigerDirect). Quite frankly, all of the X-Mas gifts that I'm giving this year have been ordered online. B-)
