Perhaps now is a good time for PC World to get in on the act and start providing Linux PCs too.
It seems to me that Dell have got themselves into something good.
PC World, let your retail chains sell Linux PCs and you too will be able to reap the rewards of Open Source. :-)

Hi Stoodleysnow. I believe you may be talking about the PC World Superstore located in the United Kingdom. PCWorld the magazine, which is located in San Francisco, California, has no affiliation with PCWorld the retail store.

Hey MPH
Would I save money if I bought one one and put XP on it?

Hi Snorg. I am not sure about that. However, getting a Dell Laptop that already has Ubuntu on it would make it a lot easier to Dual Boot with XP. Both Ubuntu and XP are low to moderate resource intensive so the system requirements would be easier to manage.

Microsoft's licensing scheme for OEM's used to charge them for a copy of Windows even if the unit was sold with a different OS

Is that scheme still in play, or did someone finally wake up and see how uncompetitive it is?

Don't you think they should make it easier to see the open source computers on Dell's site? It's like a total mystery as to where it is http://linuxhow2.com/News/DellOffersLinuxinNotebooks.html
