Facebook, MySpace Hit by Zero-Day Flaw

This is just another good reason for folks to use Netscape or Firefox. . . I never use IE unless going to a Microsoft Site.. Many people do NOT realize that "Active X Controls" are actually *.exe files sent to them by the Web Server. As always, I have learned... "You Can't Fix Stupid" ..

O.K., first of all, I am sick to death of people bashing Internet Explorer and advocating Netscape or Firefox - those browsers have their flaws, too. IE may have more, but that is simply because it is used by FAR more people than Netscape and Firefox COMBINED! Therefore, it is only logical to assume that IE is going to be targeted far more than any other browser. I have used IE exclusively since I bought my first computer in 1995, and have NEVER experienced ANY problem with anything on my PC related to my use of Microsoft's web-browser! Of course, I ALWAYS use anti-virus and anti-spyware software, and always keep those programs up-to-date. The fact that people are careless about using anti-virus and anti-spyware programs, and keeping those programs up-to-date, is the real problem - NOT using the wrong browser!

And, just why is MySpace "crap" and a "roach motel"?!! Where else is a person supposed to go to socially network? Do the two users who labeled MySpace with those terms not have any friends? I use MySpace all the time, because EVERYONE I know is on there, and again I have NO problems with my PC because I am not an idiot! MySpace may not be managed or set-up as well as it could be, but it is popular, and everyone uses it. Again, THAT is why it may have a lot of problems - because it is popular, and it attracts, because of that popularity, an "unsavory element"!

Where do you go to socially network? Like you need every Tom, Dick and Harry on your Myspace friends page whom you will never meet or talk too? Try turning off the computer and getting a life. Go outside, ride bikes or go to parks and meet people. Join a club, at least do something besides sitting on your ass getting all excited because Jenny from Ireland added you as a friend.
Myspace pages are crap and amatuer quality. They break every rule about internet web page design.

If you don't like MySpace, don't use it! But, don't sit there and criticize other people who DO want to use it, and don't make assumptions about people you've never met OR talked to! I DO have a life, and the computer has enhanced my ability to make AND meet new friends! I talk to everyone listed as a "friend" on my page, including a couple who live in other states than I do - and, I've actually met them, too!

Sorry if my freedom of speach offends you. And no I don't use Myspace. I do however spend a lot of time recovering downed computers that were taking out my something they picked up on Myspace.
The only real use for Myspace is the following:
1. Catching viruses and worms
2. Meeting child molestors and pervs
3. Promoting evens (the only useful one)
4. Blogging about your pathetic life and expecting people to really enjoy it.
Now if you will excuse me I gotta go out and enjoy my life. Live, be with friends and actually do something besides sit here.

What types of virus's and worms have you seen from those people and how do you think they got them? Simply by surfing, downloading something they really shouldn't of etc. I know a big problem is that idiots seem to think its ok to give some "we'll tell you how long people stay at your page for" etc their password. I'm like !!!!
standard response is " well nothings happened yet" but Ive seen my friends routinely get taken over and turned into a spam account. Just stupid people doing stupid things, is there any real threat out there to someone who actually knows what they are doing?

Thank you!!! The real problem here is NOT MySpace, it is idiots who practice unsafe, ignorant computing by giving away sensitive, personal information, and who blindly open every e-mail message and attachment sent to them by anybody! Using MySpace is NOT a prerequisite for downloading viruses and spyware to your computer, that can happen in many different ways, including visiting OTHER websites (beside's MySpace!) and by simply using e-mail.
MySpace, no matter how poorly designed, laid-out, and implemented it may be, is NO worse than any other websites. It simply has a bigger share of users who experience problems because it has a MUCH larger base of users than most other sites do - THAT is the same reason ignorant people blame Internet Explorer for being a worse web browser than Firefox! It's not that IE is not as good as Firefox, it's that IE is a FAR more popular browser, so it is targeted far more often than other browsers. Incidentally, I don't use Firfox because I like ALL my websites to display their pages correctly - that is NOT something I have a problem with when I use IE!
I hate when ignorant people (this is NOT directed at the person whose post I am responding to!) make blanket assumptions about people's lives and the way they live them - ESPECIALLY people they've never even spoken to!

MySpace is an ironic entity.
PC users once criticized WebTV users Web pages as being bandwidth hogs, examples of trailer trash art, annoying music starts upon loading, etc.
Now the PC users think MySpace is some sort of high-class joint on the Riviera and yet they do all of the same things they ragged on WebTV about.
I called it a "Roach Motel" for the above reasons as well as for the simple fact that it seems like every other week there's a new exploit threatening people on MySpace and anyone visiting the site.
It's my opinion -- get over it and get on with your lives. You can disagree all you want but it won't change anything at all. Thank you. B-)
