DOS did not die it took another form in UNIX (LOL) since your talking about UI. It was just text based. But for most of us we are GUI people now like we are button-smashers. and so since your accustomed to be a button-smasher you dont see a potential trend switch to the Wii's new technology of motion based control. So to say that the Wii-mote is going to kill gaming... youd have to be an idiot because I can see MS and Sony taking notes from Nintendo that it will have in there so called "next-gen" console a sort of motion-based UI. The Wii is just ahead of its time for us hard-core button smashers which i find myself in but the potential is there and Im just waiting for those developers to produce that ONE game that will make the crossover of Wii-haters like the IPOD made crossovers of PC people to Apple. Bring it on.... God of War or Gears or Warcraft.....mwahhhhhh!!!

Console figures are interesting, but what about game sales?
My grandparents bought a wii and love it, but have yet to buy another game for it since.
I bought a PS3 and have bought a number of games. What about Halo 3? that was a HUGE seller, didn't it break some game sale records or something?
I think those figures would paint a different picture.

I'm sorry but it seems like all the people here defending the wii (belligerently and ignorantly) are people who bought it because of the hype, played if for a few weeks and never touched it again. Now you are mad because you could of spent that money on a 360 but you are stuck with it. Don't worry because there are plenty of other wiiTards out there who will buy it from you.

I know because I have a wii, and now that I think about it it's not hooked up, it's been in my truck for weeks because I let a friend borrow it like a month ago because he almost got sucked into the hype. Fortunatly it took him a week to realize what you all didn't, the damn thing sucks. And lucky for my cousin his girlfriend bought him one so he didn't waste his money. I told him when he got it that it sucks and a week later he agreed and now they are broken up... I would dump a girl too if she ever bought me a wii.

All you saying the system is better than the others because your grandparents or whoever like it just stop. It has an innovative control scheme but the think can't even play mp3 anymore! It's not the "future of gaming", its more like those crappy radica systems you plugged into your TV and they would have like a snowboard attatchment or something. I like playing on the 360 controller any day instead of getting my arm tired pointing at the screen flipping my wrist like a homosexual or something trying to get a perfect serve in tennis (just like the pros do it in real life, a quick wrist flip and BAM, 120mph serve everytime....)

When people would come to my place for parties and such they would want to play wii while the 360 was busy wirelessly streaming my entire mp3 collection to 5.1 surround sound to entertain everyone. Now that the wii novelty has worn off its all about 360 and guitar hero/rock band.

Oh if I'm not enjoying xbox live, the largest online community for gaming, i'll be bored on wii net or whatever the hell it is. My friend code is 113541459087971923457193458944578981324797234. However since there is approximately zero good games to play online you won't see me on there, ever.

The fact is, people will buy what they want. If they're unhappy with it, they are usually able to return it or exchange it for something else. It's ignorant to say, "You shouldn't have bought that, because what I bought is better". If you're happy with what you have, then that's good for you, but it's not cause to tell others that they're dumb for buying something you don't like. For instance, I have a BMW, and I'm very happy with it. But I'm not going to say, "If you own a different kind of car, then you made a dumb mistake, because mine's better." What you like is good for you, and what someone else likes is good for them - period. No berating commentary is ever necessary.
