I use a cool anti-malware program called Threatfire. It's not an antivirus application per se, but its behavior-based technology seems to work very well. And with the new viruses "in the wild" that are not detected by current AV programs due to their "newness" it seems like the new way to go.

This "behaviour-based" malware detection doesn't sound new to me. I think it's what you call "advanced hueristics", which has been around for YEARS. However, "advanced hueristics", or just "heuristics", is not the same in all AV apps. Also, the trick is programming heuristics scanning into the AV software so that it scans internet activity and not just the computer. Eset NOD32 Antivirus has had this (web protection) built into itself for quite some time now. I think they've trademarked it "ThreatSense".
