Yah, SP3 for XP's out and I'm pretty happy about it. I'm getting it as we (i) speak.

You're pretty clever with the drive cloning there!

I will also post how the install goes as far as the defects of my machine.

Mine automatically updated SP1 on April 19th on my desktop, Home Premium, but not on my laptop, same, that I don't turn on everyday which supports what everyone says about some computers not having all the updates. UBS works fine as that is how I get online, with broadband Verizon-Shiprock520

If you will run Belarc Advisor on your laptop, it will tell you if you are missing any updates. In addition, if your laptop is waiting for something such as the Windows Defender database update, you will not see the SP1 show up. I will probably update my laptop's drive clone this weekend and then install SP1. I have had it on my network since it was released as with multiple machines and a limited download volume, it was easier this way.

Finally got it this morning. Only difference noticed was that Ready Boost on USB drive had to be re-enabled.

Total download was only 66.9MB. Must mean I had all of the other updates.

I'll post performance changes.

around 65mb is the normal size for 32-bit users who get the sp1 from live update. The standalone package is much bigger 540 mb. Whether you have all previous updates or not will not make any difference . Just the necesary updates are required.

btw - msft also released two new ultimate extras - dreamscene content pack #3 and new sound schemes.

Post Vista SP1, Windows Explorer was acting squirrelly while loading at startup so ran disk and registry cleanup functions in utility suite and everything appears normal. Funny thing about this OS is that it takes forever to fully load but once up, it runs well. Of coarse, running adequate RAM (2GB installed and 1.5GB Ready Boost) might have something to do with it.

And speaking of XP SP3 update, interestingly, its download size via Windows Update matched Vista SP1's (66.9MB). Went without a hitch.
