Why can't PC laptop makers produce something nice to look at? The Vaio's come close, but most of these look like something from the 1980's! And the tecra by Toshiba made me lol. Please, for the love of god, have some pride and dignity and stop selling every square inch of flat surface area for advertising.

This list is horrible. I'm a PC user but I know for a fact that the Macbooks are better than most of these and the title says Laptops, not Windows based laptops. The description of the laptops is horrible with almost no consistency. If you are going to list battery life on one laptop, list it on all. If you show the Worldbench score, CPU/GHZ/Cores, OS, and RAM on some, show on ALL! Ram is especially important for Vista, as 2gb should be the absolute minimum.
That being said, to anyone that uses a laptop for purely word MS office, internet, and other basic functions, i recommend the Asus EEE PC at only $400. It is super tiny and very portable. I use mine for taking notes in class and it couldn't be any better.
The ASUS laptops are also rated very high and should have been on this list.

I learned my lesson the hard way with Toshitba too. My A70 was 13 months old when the power jack screwed up and even though consumers in the U.S. were offered an aditional 1 year to fix the problem, (after a class action law suit) the service rep in Canada pretty much said it sucks to be me and told me I could buy a new motherboard for $725.00. The only satisfaction I got was that, having a small buisiness in computers myself, I have steered dozens of people away from Toshiba and onto H.P.
