Sorry I have the Samsung in this story and I had the Sony you speak of, I bought the Samsung for the bedroom and thought I would get the better TV for the Home Theater. Dollar for dollar the Samsung kicked the Sony's @$$. Simply put I kept the Sony for three days, played with the adjustments and with a side by side comparisson in my home where it counts I returned the Sony and bought another Samsung upgrading the sound system to the theater with the $1000 I saved.
Sony isn't the best at anything anymore, most of their over priced trash uses electronics made by Samsung, NEC or Motorola so if you are going to buy it why not buy the original instead of a re-packaged and over priced copy....

Why do you constantly promote these 'throw-away' televisions? I am in the business of repairing televisions and the Olevia, Vizio and other brands you talk so well about have a strong tendency to fail just after the warranty expires. Cost to repair equals or exceeds cost to buy a new one. Their warranty involves replacement with a refurbished set, then throw it away because no parts are made available to the service industry, or cost is so high as to make repair unrealistic. Some of them require you to ship to a single service depot in the original carton - If you no longer have that, they will provide one at a cost of $250.00. So you can spend $1,000.00 less than a major brand to buy this set. Just be prepared to spend it every year.

I used to work for a distribution, warehouse, delivery service that mostly handles delivery of warranty repair or replaced electronics. We did work for a lot of these companies spoken about here. Sony honestly was on higher end of our bussiness but that could also be caused by the high numbers of electronics they sell. The worst one and when I talked to someone from the company they confirmed this was Dell. Their TVs and monitors are nothing short of being trash. Olevia also does seem to be trash, now I know a few people who have Visio TVs and none of them have had problems. Personally my next set is either going to be another Samsung, Sharp, Sony(if the price is right) or Toshiba. My Blu-Ray is a Sony.
No matter what brand you buy get a extended service plan you trust. Pay a little more money if you have to and buy it from a place that will back up your purchase with customer service and extended warranties...
