We have vista home premium on one computer and XP Pro on another computer, once a week I have to go to the vista computer and straighten it locks up Ihave no problems with the XP computer. On the vista computer I seleced to not have the automatic mmonthly updates and microsoft over rode the settings, also I run Outpost firewall instead of Vista firewall and it is stoping more intrusions than vista's firewall.
when you have both OS'S in one house it does not take long till you would like to take vista and put it somewhere in microsoft junk bin.. twohoosiers

I have a similar setup but I have XP Home SP3 running on one and Vista HP on another. I got the Vista PC in February 07 right after it came out and it was very bad. Vista has improved but it is still not quite there. I don't know why Microsoft was in such a big hurry to get Vista released except the almighty $$$$ because it was not ready.

A few months ago I built a new computer and installed Vista Ultimate 64 bit. I wanted to have the latest O/S and latest technology. I ran into a few problems including not having a driver for my 19 inch Samsung CRT monitor, many of my older programs not working, sometimes my mouse or keyboard did not work after waking up from sleep mode, etc. I could live with many of the annoyances except the incompatability with older programs. I'm not a software engineer but I can't see why Microsoft could not enable older popular programs to work. I have a 4 year old version of Adobe Elements that was not compatable. I don't use it that often but it comes in handy.
Anyway, I installed a second drive with Win XP Pro and now I use both operating systems. I like Vista but like I said, I don't understand why a company with billions of dollars and infinite resources could not develop and emulatir or something that would allow older programs to work.

That's the way I see it, too. I don't understand why Vista is being forced on consumers when so many of us want to use XP.
its msft's choice to sell whichever OS they want in whatever way they can. No one is forcing anyone to get any particular OS. You have tons of choices . Are they deliberately coming to your home and installing vista onto your PCs ? I really dont know what this "forcing" term means ?
