In amateur radio, N1UBD would be his callsign - his handle would be Don.

Hams do not use "handles". That is left to the "CBrs" We use our given name or callsign.

Some hams DO use the term handle. Although this term was taken over by the CB community, it is still used by some of the older hams. Around here we hear it on the repeaters by hams who were licensed in the 1960s or earlier, who see it as a ham term that was stolen by the CBers.
