I am soooooooo sick of hearing about patent lawsuits. Quit your whining and come up with a better idea. Innovate, don't litigate. If you make a good name for you, people will buy your stuff. If you soil your name with ugly lawsuits, everybody will hate you, and you will lose profits. Any half-wit can figure that out.

Ivory - respectfully. Do you have a clue? Rambus "makes" intellectual property which it licenses. People (Hynix, Nvidia, et al.) are "buying" Rambus "stuff" - they just aren't paying for it. Your computer has Rambus IP in it. The DRAM manufacturer simply pocketed Rambus' share of the profit.

Wow, you registered on the forum just to tell me that? I was making a comment about patent lawsuits in general, which are obviously being abused by a lot of companies. Whether this particular lawsuit is legitimate or not was beside the point I was trying to make. If Rambus's claims are found to be accurate, then so be it. I am just tired of hearing about patent lawsuits every other time I check the news feeds, knowing how much abuse of our patent system is being allowed to take place, especially when IP is involved. And I have to wonder if such litigation, even in legitimate cases, is really necessary to resolves these kinds of issues.

Ivory. The reason there are so many lawsuits involving IP is because there are so many crooks out there thinking they can use others' inventions without paying royalities. The problem is rampant. The abuse is not with the patent system. The abuse is on the part of thieves who use inventions without paying. The really sad thing is that it can take 10 or more years in our court system to get justice. And, yes, it is unfortunately necessary to litigate to realize any income because of the widespread abuse of using inventions without compensation to inventors.
