I am baffled this article doesn't mention ACTSudoku. Did the author even give it a try?
ACTSudoku has a great interface for entering pencil marks. When you tap a cell, a small window pops up showing the digits 1-9. Tap one to create a green pencil not. Tap it again for a red pencil note. You may go on making all your pencil notes for the cell. The window only closes when you tap outside of it.
Entering a value is just as easy: tap and hold.
For difficult puzzles, the automatic pencil notes may be enabled. The computer then helps me by setting the green notes. I can still input red notes.
ACTSudoku is not limited to some 50 games. It has a generator which produces millions.
