Rats. I like PC Tools Registry Mechanic and do not like the fact that Symantec will now have it's hands on that product.
I am definitely not a fan of Symantec especially the NIS suite because of it's effect on machine performance.

Another utility bites the dust...
I am Symantec of Borg... You will be assimilated... Resistance is futile... Bloat and instability are inevitable.

It really is too bad that PC Tools has become the latest victim to be consumed by the Symantec junkware monster.

This reminds me of when Symantec bought PowerQuest.

It sure looks like the fox has bought the hen house. Symantec will ruin PC Tools.

From a distribution perspective Symantec can wring lots of additional revenue from this acquisition. The PCTools people are a bunch of jerks. We sell a couple of million $ of computer products a year and PCTools refused to sign us up as a reseller because we couldn't provide to them that we were "legitimate." They wouldn't explain themselves so we have been selling competing products. Under Symantec's wing you can be sure that even the corner bodega will stock PCTools products.

PC Tools and earned a reputation for quality products. Symantec will ruin them. They will turn them into the bloated, slow, buggy software that is typical of all Symantec applications. And for support, you will get some overseas bozo who barely speaks English, and has no idea how the application works. What a crying shame.

I just switched to PC Tools software a little over a year ago. I thought it was a good thing to get away from Symantec's costly resource hungry software and renewal fees. Oh well, I guess AVG Anti-Virus is next.

There should be a grave pic because now that symantec bought pc tools, it means the end of good pc tools products replaced with overrpiced crap that is worse then freeware products.

I have a part time business working on computers and I frequently install PC Tools 'freeware' products were the 'crapware' versions have long since expired, etc. I have found them to be very viable tools. I even use some of them myself as I would never install something on a customer's computer I would not use myself.

We can only hope they do remain a separate entity and still remain as freeware or purchase for the full blown package but personally I'm guessing they'll eventually disappear as we know them now, seeing as they are direct competition to the Norton family of products.

So long PC Tools software. It's been a fun ride.

I used to use Norton and damn if a virus didnt eat it alive. Funny is McAfee combined with free products found and got rid of what Norton was destroyed by, The fact PcTools is now in the hands of Norton is a scary thought indeed.

I have been using Spyware Doctor and Registry Mechanic for years, the updates and quality of the products are fantastic. All one can do is pray that Symantec doesn't screw this one up.
The problem is Goliaths tend to think they know it all, if they would only use common sense and remember "if it ain't broke don't fix it".

I have two of PCT's packages and I'm dumping them just as soon as I decide on their replacements. I just hope I can do it before Symantec stomps all over them.

I was a fan of free Cyberhawk (which became Threatfire) to supplement F-secure (provided free by my ISP) and was worried that PCTools would screw it up but it remained pretty close to the original product. Now with Symantec taking over I am starting to look for a replacement but who knows... It won't get actually replaced until Symantec screws with it. (I hope someone from Symantec is paying attention to these comments)
