To the MPAA: GIVE ME A WAY TO PURCHASE MOVIES AND WATCH THEM ON WHATEVER DEVICE I WANT. I DON'T WANT TO STEAL. I JUST WANT FLEXIBILITY.

I'd love a way to legally copy my DVDs to my computer's HD so I can watch them without a disc in the drive. However, I'd never buy anything from Real to do it.

Real was wise using the Kaleidescape precedent in their filings. From what I can gather, this software and what Keleidescape were doing are very very similar. If so, Real has a strong case. Notice the people suing Real conveniently leave out the entire Kaleidescape case...

MPAA's lawsuit here is quite similar to a Paragraph 4 filing in the Pharmaceutical industry. The patent-holder will always file suit to stop the generic, even though they know that they will lose.

Likewise, MPAA must know that they're going to lose this lawsuit.
