iGoogle Gets an Upgrade

I want my tabs back!! Who cares if the widgets are "full canvas?" The sidebar takes up unnecessary room on the desktop and I have to scroll (!) to get to all my former tabs.
Please Google, explain how this helps me be more efficient or how it improves my web/google experience...
Also -- my staff uses igoogle as an information tool -- we have an igoogle page set up -- so this new interface has messed up more than just MY life.
h1. AARRGGHH!!!!!!

Let me jump on the band wagon. I just found iGoogle about 2 mos ago and fell in love with it. Then yesterday it all changed. I spent most of the day trying to get the old format back. Tried again today. They found this discussion. The new format leaves a lot to be desired. I may be like all the rest a go back to my old home page. But to be fair I will probably stay with it for a short while to see if Google smartens up and changes it back or comes up with a better idea that will work.

Everything in iGoogle is so heavy-weight and cumbersome now. I switched from Yahoo to Google because before Yahoo was really heavy-weight themselves compared to Google.
After struggling with the new iGoogle for a little while, I visited the my.yahoo.com portal and found that they have really cleaned it up.
I'm switching back.

To say that I strongly dislike the new interface would be an understatement. Google should provide an opportunity for users to choose between the old and the new. At this time I am using iGoogle Canada, which provides all my settings as they were before the big switch, but when google changes the international sites over to their new interface, I will be changing to Pageflakes or Netvibes.
Shame on Google for treating their loyal users in this way!!!

The comments on the Google forums and blogs are running over 100:1 against the new design. Particularly the heavy handed manner in which if was forced on people, and the lack of any reliable way to turn the changes off.
For rhe time being, you can get the "old" iGoogle design by switching your home page to a non-U.S. site, such as www.google.ca/ig or www.google.co.uk/ig. At least until Google forces the rest of the world to enjoy the "benefits" of canvas. :(

Add me to those that HATE the upgrade! Now everything is even tinier than before, so they could add a column on the left that lists everything that is already there on my home page. And now, every time I go to the home page, it automatically bounces me over to my mail folder, whether I want to go there or not. AND they have another, even suckier than before, page for the mail. You have to click each time you go into mail, to go back to the regular/previous mail view.
I've been using Gmail because it gets way less spam, but I'm seriously thinking of changing to another provider.

An upgrade? A downgrade is more like it.
This guy pretty much summed up my thoughts exactly----- Google, Please Give Me My Old Home Page Back

I logged in today and saw changes. Played around for a little and then decided that, yes, i don't like it.
No biggy though, I just changed my homepage to http://www.google.co.uk/ig?hl=en and have the nice old layout back. Of course once they roll this out to the UK then I'll have to switch to another country.
Hey Google, give us the choice!

was Google recently bought out by Hoover or Electrolux? Cuz this new layout really SUCKS BIG TIME!! Please bring back the previous layout with the tabs across the top. And quit screwing with a good thing for pete's sake. Why not get public opinion before switching crap around
thanks for ignoring us.
