How Much Ink Is Left in That Dead Cartridge?

I have a Canon i850 which always says it is out of ink weeks before it really runs out. I just ignore it and keep on printing until the characters fade. Never had a problem doing this.

Actually many of the people facing this problem.I use an inkjet from many of the months and it shows me the messages that you have to change your cartridge and inspite of this it will work for 15 days after this message.
