T o me, avoiding squinting eyes and harsh shadows, I get the subject into some light shade (if possible). I'm a devoted "always use flash" photog, especially in bright sunlight. Most people comment "why use flash in bright sunlight." The answer is, and evident in reduced shadow hiding details. Jim Swimmer
