Yes, silly. It is. It may very well surpassed one day in coming, however, as of now, it's the most user friendly, beautiful thing I have ever had, besides the obvious dolphin, duh. ;)

Sorry, but the #1 cell phone manufacturer in the world beats all these. Funny how if you only compare the American brands this type of comparison is the result. Nokia beats all these in all categories, worldwide results prove it so. Just check out the N71 and it's awards, honors, and rankings in the world. Now if American will quit falling for the "bull" of the carriers and realize they can buy phones on their own without the carrier involved at all, then they will truely see the best phones in the world.

Received my 1st iPhone 6/30/07. I'm now on my 4TH iPhone due to erratic behavior. Each time I had to drive 32 miles (roundtrip) to closest Apple Store and wait for replacements, other people were there with similar problems (as Apple quietly handed out replacements in the hopes of keeping our mouths shut). Today, over 500 DAYS later, I'm stuck with a phone that still freezess or goes blank at the most frustrating times. The only help Apple has provided is to reboot it like a computer (holding on/off & home buttons until apple logo appears). That process takes almost 2 minutes and does seem to provide temporary help.

When it DOES work, it is a GOOD phone. However it lacks MANY things I've had & enjoyed in prior phones or can get now from other available phones: Voice dialing, ability to view, edit & create Word or Excel files, receiving HTML emails, viewing email attachments, ability to change battery, SD card slot, ability to expand memory, HD quality screen, ability to watch videos in HD.

Bottom Line: Anyone who currently thinks iPhone is the best phone so far or ever, probably thinks the US ecenomy is in the best shape ever.

Although I haven't check on iPhone or BlackBerry I do agree that Nokia's terminals are about the strongest ones. But it's not only in the US where you buy the terminals from the carriers, here in Spain 99.99% of the people get their terminals from the carrier instead of buying it directly, for the obvious reason that 40€ is much cheaper than paying 400€ for the same terminal (HTC Touch per example) or even for free.

I have a 1st gen iPhone, I have yet to have any problems at all. As far as Nokia goes, I beleive they are #3 or 4 when it comes to smartphones according to recent articles which you can look up for yourself. #1 Apple, #2 RIM and I beleive #3 Nokia. So I'll stick with the iPhone, just like Apple did with computers and it's OS it is doing it again in the cell phone market. Face it, it appears all good ideas come from Apple while everyone else follows.

It appears Nokia isn't doing so well, laying off 1800 employees. Hmmm.

The 2008 Mobile Choice Awards
went down last night, and the Nokia E71 went home as the big winner,
but Samsung did pretty well for itself, too. Other notables include…
Phone of the Year*: Nokia E71
Best Smartphone*: Nokia E71
Best Manufacturer*: Samsung
Best Cameraphone*: Samsung i8510
Best Music Phone*: Samsung F400
Readers’ Choice*: iPhone 3G
Operator of the Year*: O2
Best Customer Service*: Virgin Mobile (for eight years running!)

Another apple fanboy? Check the news, top smartphone manufacture is Nokia by some way:
http://www.engadgetm...ber-two-smartp/

Once the backberry storm is released, RIM will go back second.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the iPhone, just getting fed up reading about the iphone! Yes the touch screen and UI are the best I've used, but feature wise, its miles behind the N95 and if its reliability is anything like my iPod Touch 2g, then its only as reliable as my N95 too.

It cracks me up any time I see individuals who have absolutely no affiliation with any technology company defend a tech product as if it were a musical genre or a political party. Do people think that world peace will result from everyone using the same phone or something?
I've had an iPhone 3G since it came out, and I practically live on the thing now, it becomes more valuable to me every day. But I couldn't care less if someone else wants to use a Nokia or a Treo. And if Nokia came out with an iPhone killer in 2 years I'd very well consider it. Isn't it better when we have options?
You'd have to be in denial to think that Apple hasn't created a major shift in how people live and work and play. That's not hype, and it's not a case of the blind masses supporting an inferior product. This reminds me of all the Amiga users who were so mad when the Mac came out.
A truly good product strikes just the right balance of form and function. And in those rare moments where it takes the platform to a new level, like the iPhone, it can only be good for everyone.
The iPhone is nothing short of brilliant- but it doesn't mean you have to be bitter if you don't have one, or don't want one. You can decide to not join the party, if for no other reason than to not go along with everyone else- it's your choice. Be happy you have that choice.
Enjoy what you have, and enjoy the fact that you live in a place so technologically advanced that we can even have these discussions.
We humans will fight over anything, won't we...?

Indeed, I just wanted to pop in to remind you guys that you can argue and attack the product, but please try to avoid personally attacking one another. :)

Nokia's definitely pretty good, I just laid my 7710 smartphone to rest for the iPhone though. It was time because 1st, I could never back up my data on my Mac computer, only PC and I'm not about to buy Parallels just for that. 2nd as much as it was a cool smartphone, it had so many crashes. I mean once you get going business wise, getting emails, viewing attachments, replying, etc. it would strike, either restarting itself, or just playing freezing. Hmm, fun! iPhone never does that, even under great business pressure. 3rd I could never ever update the software easily. Where did they tell me to update it???... in London England right across the Atlantic from me. Cool!!! iPhone, dock it and update... just like that (with a cool accent). 4th ever try calling some customer support for Nokia stuff, especially here in USA? Oho, you're in for an especially frustrating, sucky time my friends. iPhone hm, you can call AT&T or you can call Apple. Wow! So sure the world may just pick up that 3 or 4 year old used Nokia sold all through the EU, eastern Europe, and everywhere, and you'd expect that, because it's been around far long than the iPhone. But for a really reliable handset, that the company UPDATE REGULARLY, fixes bugs practically on it's own, it's also an enjoyable iPod (nokia you've got to convert the music, oh my gosh, it's like wtf)and they create so many cool apps for it (nokia? and apps? ha ha, yeah right!!!) and finally is just great for business.... get the iPhone and stop dissing the thing. Let's remember that it's sparking your own fav mobile companies to make one just like it, lol.

Im not trying to have a go at iPhone owners or anything, its their choice. However, this articles headline is the iPhone is the best smartphone ever. Its not the N95 brought the smartphone idea to the masses and is the top seller with something like 11 million sold world wide.

The iPhone isn't as popular as people think outside the US. In the UK, Nokia and Sony Ericsson dominate. The iPhone is a good phone. Just it is far from the best, and for me is only barely a smartphone. It lacks basic features like cut and paste, mms, video caputre etc which are what I personally think are basic features in a smart phone.

Also.... lol
Other than RIM's Blackberry (which is also a true business phone - who's about to make an iPhone'esq model, the Storm) - can anyone tell me a Nokia model (I mean a cool business one) that has cross platform software and not just PC software? I mean, at least as well Apple can allow everyone to sync on PC or Mac (haven't tried Linux). Cmon, I mean that's just right to do, especial now a days. Not like "Oh we make cool phones... but only for the PC users." Oh cool, let me rush to Sweden and order one up!!! Not.
Nokia's cool though.

What a clumsily titled article. Ever heard of the word "yet"? It magically combines the powers of "so far" and "ever"!

Er olusan, the Nokia N-Series phones have as many apps if not alot more for them. Including games. You don't need to convert music and videos as much as it supports more codecs than the iPhone amd you can "drag and drop" music direct to the device. No need for extra software. Support in the UK is probably average. Plus, from a business point of view, try editing an excel spreadsheet....

Well I think that thanks to the exclusion of video capture and certain other things (I do love cut & paste... damn!), alot more people can afford an iPhone rather than a $600 Nokia N95. Man, I priced those Nokias... I used to really love'em, still do. But $600 compaired to $300 - umm...

This might be a difference in pricing between the UK and US, but in the UK the N95 8GB is free on #35 (and some cheaper tariffs) whereas the iPhone starts at #100 and a minimum #35 a month contract. Not sure what that works out in USD though. I can only guess nokia charges more in the US?

Hmm, yeah good stuff with that N95, but does it do Mac? Firstly I'm so not a mobile toy freak, but I think they're cool. I'd have to say that was my biggest frustration with the Nokia's. When the iPhone first came out, I wouldn't trade my 7710 in for nothing! Like you said, all those features, but when the second came out, and I had this weird Nokia crash, lost some info and couldn't sync, then called the NYC Nokia store (Shaquanda answered the phone) they told me where to get my phone "flashed", in the UK... I was like bro forget these features, I just want something I can work with. That was the deal maker for me. We're always going to have this weird pricing, etc from continent to continent, but the cross platform stuff though, yo that's like gold to me.
